vampfang's Reviews (104)

a quick and easy read that was pretty enjoyable! at times it felt a little bit *too* high school, but it's a ya novel so i didn't rally expect anything different. lesbian witches are the best witches.

took a little bit to get into, but once i did it was so hard to put down! i wasn't a huge fan of the plot twist tho since there was really no way you would've figured it out if you didn't live in this fictional society. the interspersing past and present was a cool technique, but it was unsatisfying when they didn't converge by the end, making the whole book sort of feel like backstory.

witches! magic! cool hats! this book has it all!

i really like the way this book is setting up coco as the antithesis to the idea that only the arbitrary "good" people can wield magic. gives me owl house vibes tbh with the seal/glyph parallels. also qifrey is neat.

i love gay people

i work at a library and wrote a staff pick for this book, it is truly so fun although it focuses primarily on the wlw side of lgbt in case anyone was looking for other kinds of rep. i especially loved "molly's lips," though perhaps that's just because i'm a nirvana fan.

so much more fun the second time around! there is so much to talk about in this book i love it :]

a timely tale showing that the rich aren't as invincible as they think they are. vivid descriptions really enhance the tale's creepy feel.

it took me surprisingly long to get into this story considering its short length, and even after i was finished i was still pretty confused. i read some more about it and i have to admit that i think it was quite well-written and intriguing, even if the storytelling feels a bit foggy due to its unreliable narrator. i liked the teeth.
