A solid read without too much of the cursing and misogyny you often find in war books.

All things considered, a pretty happy book.

Accessible without being predictable. True to the teenage voice without being self-centered.

Trying to do too much in one book, and too fast.

About what you'd expect. A few typos in the manuscript.

My college-age self would not have appreciated this book, but my adult-self totally gets it. Glad I waited to read it.

Reminiscent of Lemony Snickett in all the right ways.

A down and dirty history of the people of Massachusettes and New England. Full of interesting revelationss for those of us who are local.

Can now check this off my list.

Bittersweet ending, as with all animal books. Not so sad as some.
