Grab snacks, and anything else you might need before diving into this one, go to the loo before, you have been warned!

This one will keep you on the edge of your seat, I shouted 'oh no' more than once reading this!

It starts out a little slow, but then the pace kicks in, and you are running full force for the rest of the story.

Tom and Rachel are married, however they are slowly breaking down, their teenage son died in a car accident, and the blame and hurt are slowly creeping into their marriage, and neither of them really know what to do.

On top of the guilt for their sons accident, their 13 year old daughter was involved in a mugging and although she says she is ok, her swollen face from where the mugger punched her, makes the guilt rear it's ugly face once more.

A family friend offers the family to get away and stay in a lodge that he has in a remote place in Scotland, and although Tom isn't really up for it, they agree as it will give them to have time as a family together, as Tom has recently moved out of the family home to give him and Rachel some space to sort things out in their own heads.

The lodge is amazing, all mod-cons and fancy-pants, with a great big gate to stop other people from coming in.

They have a fab evening and all got to bed as usual, but then they hear a window being broken, and when going to investigate, Tom sees 2 masked men walking around downstairs!!

Tom, Rachel, Holly and Buster the dog have to try and find a way out of the house and to safety, but how can you do that when you are in the middle of nowhere, with no phone signal, and gates the that are supposed to keep people out, are the ones keeping you in?

A thrill-a-minute read, strap yourself in!

This was a great little who-done-it type story based around an office environment.

Switching POV's and timelines, the book jumps from before the murder to after.

Our main character Freya is a computer whizz, she has always had the dream of working for the giant Startup company, Atypical (think Google/Microsoft) so it is the best day of her life when she not only get's the job of her dreams, but she is practically head hunted for it!

She quickly shows how good she is at coding and makes quite the impression, especially from Jay one of the Co-founders of the company.

Soon Freya and Jay are a couple, but keeping it quiet isn't always easy, especially working in an office, anyone that works in one will tell you that there are NEVER secrets in an office, it doesn't matter how careful you are!

Freya is super happy with Jay, there is only one problem, and her name is Nicole!

Nicole is so obviously jealous of the relationship between Freya and Jay that she becomes the office bully, and makes Freya's life a nightmare, so one day her and Jay decide that enough is enough, and play a silly, funny prank on her.

Except no-one is laughing when Nicole ends up murdered!!

Cleverly told in the voices of Freya, and also a journalist called Isla who is covering the murder story, this little twisty book may not have the story you think it will!

Covering topics such as office & cyber bullying and also sexual harassment, it is a great book to get your teeth into.

*Thank you to the author and to Readers First for gifting me a copy of this book.

Oh My, I have finally found a new favourite Stephen King since 11.22.63

This one came with a slow start, I couldn't really see where it was heading, and then a few chapters later, BAM I was invested!

This book follows 12 year old Luke Ellis, who is a normal boy, well except for the fact that he can move things with his mind, but he thinks that is just normal really, it doesn't happen all the time, just when he's mad.

Except, you and I both know that it isn't normal, and so do the people that break into his house one night, kill his parents, kidnap him, and take him to The Institute.

We also meet Tim, an ex Cop, who was on his way to somewhere completely different, until he decides at the last minute to gives up his seat on a packed flight, and then just goes on his merry way. He finds a random old town, and gets a job as a Night Knocker, that he is way overqualified for, but seems to enjoy, and everything in his life seems to be going Hunky-Dory.

Luke has woken up in his bedroom, except is isn't his, it just looks like it, turns out, that The Institute has a lot of kids just like Luke, and they are subjected to some horrific experiments by the adults in charge.

Do Luke and Tim have a connection? Well it wouldn't be a SK if people were randomly shoved in his story for no reason would it?

Am I going to tell you what the connection is? OF COURSE NOT YOU FOOLS!!!

If you loved watching shows like Stranger Things, or reading SK's older books like Firestarter, or even newer books like The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken or Vicious by V E Schwab (personal favourites of mine) then you will LOVE this book!

It reads more like a YA than most of his books, so don't let the STEPHEN KING thing scare you, if you've never read any of his books before, then this would be a great starter for you.

Mr King is not known as The King for nothing, his books are usually huge, and this one is no exception, but if you go in knowing that it is going to be a wild ride, then you are going to have a great time.

Well Ms Hoover did it again and made my black heart melt

Just as I was finishing the year with Zero tears spilled on a book, 2 of them come along and wipe me out!

This one was just such a good story, with the usual CoHo WTF thrown in, I was shouting at my phone so many times (I listened to the audiobook obvs)

This is a story of a mother (Morgan) and daughter (Clara), and was written so well. Morgan got pregnant and married young, something that Clara absolutely doesn't want to do, she has goals and aspirations, something that her mother put on hold for her.

Clara's father Chris is the glue that holds the family together, and they all live in a perfect family bubble.

Until one day.

An accident brings the family dynamic to a screeching halt.

With Morgan and Clara at loggerheads, Morgan has secrets that she cannot discuss with Clara, and Clara has her own secrets that she needs to hide.

Secrets, Lies and other things I can't discuss because of spoilers, make this a book that you should definitely add to your TBR.

Well knock me down with a feather, 3 books this year have made me have feelings, I said 2 in my previous post but I remembered another one lol.

This book made me have such a range of emotions, and it is going to be really difficult to write about it because you absolutely have to go into this book blind, my suggestion would be don't read ANY reviews (except this one of course) as you don't want to catch an accidental spoiler.

The story is centered around a 40th birthday party that is for Livia, she has been literally planning this party for 20 years, she didn't get to have the big extravagant wedding that she wanted, so this is something that is very close to heart, and she hasn't spared any expense.

Her friends and family all know about her big party obsession and have just left her to revel in the organising for her big day, after all you are not 40 every day.

Livia's husband Adam and her two children Marnie and Josh are well aware how important this day is Livia, and have done their best to fit in and help where they can.

With friends, family, colleagues and a few surprise guests arranged to arrive to the party, what could possibly go wrong?

This story is so cleverly written that you almost don't see the twist coming, I had that puppet face when it did, you know, this one -

description

B A Paris has written such a clever book, because it is such a difficult choice to make, and without going into any spoilers, I know that is really vague, #SorryNotSorry

Honestly grab this one when you can, you won't regret it.

Review coming soon

Set in the UK in Edinburgh, Detective Inspector Luc Callanach who was a former Interpol Officer, has joined the Crime team in Scotland, he brings with him a wealth of knowledge, and also a bag full of rumours that still follow him, and his methods around.

Ava is his work colleague, and they actually make a great pair, they seems to balance themselves out, while Ava is fun loving and knowledge based, Callanach comes across as a grumpy old man with a stick up his ass!

We also get the POV of the murderer, and we are privy to the information in his mind, we can what he is doing, to whom, and who will be next, and let me tell you, It. Is. Dark!!

The gruesome parts are very descriptive, I for one loved them, but be prepared to wince a lot while reading them.

This was a very clever thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you turning the pages (or in my case listening to the audiobook) I stayed up way too late trying to piece things together and work out what was going on.
