What do you do when you look in the mirror? Do you take a quick glance to check all is ok, or do you stand and take a really good look?

Do you study all of your laughter lines, your wrinkles, your grey hair, or do you really REALLY look???

If you really look, what do you see?
Are you happy with who you are?
With all you have ever done?
Of who you are perceived to be?

Ghostwriter, is like standing in front of a full length mirror and seeing all of the scars you have, all of the dirty secrets that, even though you tell your best friend everything, you would never tell them that......not that....not ever!!

The main character will probably be someone that you are not really that happy with, she's OK, she's grumpy, and to put it quite frankly, a bit of a bitch!

This, will maybe make you dislike her immensely, however, stick with the story, she has reason, a reason that I cannot (and will not) divulge! (Spoilers people!)

Mark, gahh I LOVE Mark, he is such a calming presence, he is like the Ying to Helena's Yang, the chalk to her cheese, the white to her black, her.......well you get the picture.

This story starts off a little slow, like a trot, however it gains speed, and then by the time you realise what is happening you are galloping through a minefield, and leaping over the things that you don't want to see.

My advice, apart from obviously reading this brilliant book, is GO IN BLIND, don't read any reviews (except mine of course!)

Savour every sentence, every line......Take a deep breath and buckle up, you are in for a bumpy ride!

I don't know about this one, maybe it's me :/ That's why I have put it on my "Everyone loves it but me" shelf on Goodreads.

If you know my reading habits then you will know that Sci-Fi is not my usual go-to read, paired with Fantasy, it is something that I will mostly give a wide berth to, unless I am bullied into it my on of my GR buddies 😘

I fell into the hype with this authors previous book The Martian, and the hype was right, the book was AMAZING, I listened to it on audio and the narrator was fantastic, Mark Watney was the funniest character, and I really felt like I was there with him while he was stuck on Mars all by himself, I 5 starred the crap out of that one!

This book.......sigh this book, I don't know it just seemed that the author was trying to make Jazz into a female Mark Watney,  the one liners,  the inappropriate jokes, he just seemed like he was trying too hard to be liked, and I get it, I really do, after that success you want another hit, why fix it if it ain't broke right?

The narrator  Rosario Dawson did a stellar performance with the story and she made me laugh a couple of times with her narration.

The story

Jazz lives on Artemis, which is on the moon, she is a hot (obviously) space engineer, genius who is also a smuggler, she's also a bit of a Sci-fi geek, oh and she's only 26!

She is dipping her fingers in lots of pies to get herself as many Slugs (Money) as she can to be able to move out of her small "coffin" (Appartment).

With smuggling comes danger, and of course there is plenty of that, but she gets offered an amount of Slugs she can't turn down to sabotage something for a very big name around town.

Can you see the similarities?? Not only that, as per the Martian, there is a hell of a lot of science talk in this one too, but it wasn't as interesting.

Maybe I was just having an off day, if you liked The Martian, then you'll probably like this, but for me, it was a bit too blahhh

Aaaaaanyway, this book was just wonderful, i thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audio book, expertly narrated by Emily Rankin & Catherine Taber.

I try not to read the blurb on books that i have been recommended as i tent to be put off, so as normal i went in to this one blind.

It wasn't until i had got about halfway through that i realized that it is based on a true story!!!!!

This story is loosely based around the story of Georgia Tann, The Tennessee Children's Home Society, and her involvement in the kidnapping, and child trafficking of hundreds of children.

Often mothers still heavy with sedation were told that the baby they had just delivered had died, or were just made to sign a paper, not really knowing that they were signing away their child.

Other ways of stealing children, well just taking them from your front porch was a normal occurrence!

This woman used to advertise the children in the papers as a "Live Christmas Present" or something equally as disturbing, but the thing is, people loved her, they saw a woman helping poor little orphans out, they didn't see that behind closed doors the children were being beaten and physically/sexually abused.

In fact she was loved so much that movie stars and "well to do" people used to get children from her, the move star Joan Crawford actually got her 2 children (twins) from Georgia Tann at the Childrens home.
To this day some of the children that were taken from their parents have never found their families again, that is just so sad.

Even though this was a sad story to read, the way that the author writes was like pure poetry on the pages, and i loved it!

After a synopsis like that how could I not read this??


Amber wakes up in hospital, well when I say wake up, she is actually still in a coma, but she can hear everything.


This story jumps from the distant past to when Amber was a child, to the "just" past and how her accident happened, to now in the present.

You would think that this would be confusing, and have to admit that it did take a couple of chapters for me to get into the swing of things, but then it just flowed.


This is not a book that can be skimmed, it really needs you to pay attention as there are clues, even though you won't realise until the end, and while we are talking about it WTF is going on with that ending!!!!!  


Narration was actually really good, read by Stephanie Racine, she also threw a little bit of singing in there for good measure!


It's really strange for me living in the UK and listening to British narrators as they all seem to sound so "proper" and they all either seem to sound like Mary Poppins or Jason Statham so I tend to not listen to a huge amount of them, but this was a lovely surprise.

I loved this book!

You always know that you are going to get a great story when you read a K Bromberg, and this one was no exception.

Cuffed is a friends to lovers book, which is one of my guilty pleasures, however this couple are slightly different.

We meet the 2 main characters later on in life, one is a sexy cop and the other is a sky diving instructor who is surprisingly the female of the 2.

Grant Malone used to play with Emmy Reeves when he was little, they were actually best friends and went to school together, however something that Grant did ended their friendship for life.

After moving back to the town 20 years later, Emmy keeps her distance from Grant, but he is having none of it.

I loved the characters in this book, Emmy has a lot of demons and I liked the fact that it is her that has the relationship issues, and not the man as usual.

Although this didn't have many graphic descriptions in the book, it may (for some) be a possible trigger. 

Narration was great, duel narration from the sexy voiced Joe Arden (swoon) and the always fabulous Maxine Mitchell, who did a stellar job with an also very swoonsome male voice.
