I really enjoyed this book, at the beginning it was quite slow but all of a sudden it kicks in and then you are hooked.
The book focuses on 3 main characters Cecilia, Rachel and Tess.
Cecilia is like Monica from friends, super organised. Everything has its own place (she even has an app on her iPhone in case she misses something)
Her daughter is slightly obsessed with historical events, (to the point where Cecilia and her husband think she may be autistic)
This months obsession is the Berlin Wall and Mrs organisation has an actual piece of the wall upstairs in a box in the attic.
While in the attic she accidently knocks over some of her husbands paperwork and finds a letter, addressed to her but only to be opened in the event of his death but he is very much still alive ........what would you do??
Tess lives with her husband and little boy, she also owns a company with her husband and her cousin Felicity
Felicity used to be fat, really fat but has now slimmed down and is skinny and beautiful, and in love with Tess's husband.
Rachel, she has a lovely son with a gorgeous grandson who she loves dearly but has just been told that they are moving to NewYork for 2 yrs and she is devastated.
All 3 stories although separate, entwine themselves very cleverly and reveal secrets and lies between family and friends.
I thoroughly enjoyed this and have recommended it to my mum to listen to (which is a very high accolade)

Well I have to say this was actually quite good. I was pleasantly surprised as i was expecting it to be a bit wishy washy.
Sophia has been sent to Hex Hall for being a bad witch, no really, she has been a naughty girl for doing a love spell for a friend, but she is also a crappy witch, her spells always go wrong.
So she gets to this school for prediguim (magic folk to you and me) and is immediately sharing her room with a lesbian vampire!
Sophie goes to her lessons like a good little witch but gets a crush on the gorgeous warlock called Archer who I have to say is smokin hot....
Anyway stuff happens, people get killed, someone gets the blame, big twist etc. You know the usual YA stuff but quite enjoyable all the same.
I won't rush out to buy the next ones in the series but I might pick it up at the library just to see what happens in the Archer saga.

Ok I'm still really into this series, Marie Lu has made a wonderful series that really keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Love Day and June together in this one although June did start to wind me up a bit with her perfect counting.
I was kept listening right to the very end, THE ENDING..............talk about emotional!
Loved it and will definitely put Champion on my TBR list.

Wow is a word to use for this one.
It's not my favorite book ever but it is very good and VERY clever.
People are right in saying that you can not say too much about the plot as it will spoil it for you.
Well worth the read, and the audio was fab, get your goggles on you're in for a bumpy ride !!

Samantha is a normal teenage girl although she is one of the ones that you secretly envy……long blonde hair……blue eyes…..MONEY!
Jase Garrett lives next door and has the complete opposite of Samantha’s life
He has a huge family (8 in the house) they are loud….messy and POOR.
Samantha has sat and watched this family for 10 years from the top of her bedroom roof, her mother looks down on ‘That family’ so she has never bothered mixing with them……………until Jase climbs up to her roof and sits with her one evening.
I really liked this book and it was almost ALMOST a 5* but the ending held a few too many questions for me, I was a bit ….what …..wait IS THAT IT !!!!!
Loved all of the characters except Clay ..***shudders*** he was just creepy!
Sam and Jase together were just super cute, and George was just GORGEOUS I want to take him home.
Good story, good plot, good twist, good narration.

This is a hard hitting book, told through the eyes of a 15yr old girl called Lina.
I have to say that I was not very aware of what Stalin did before reading this as in school you only really learn about Hitler and what he did.
The torture thatvthese people went through is unbelievable and the starving ......dear god the starving.
I think that as a YA book this was not as gruesome as it could have been and it has been filtered down a LOT for the market that it is intended for, however it is a lovely written book.
The characters are very strong and I was rooting for them the whole time, apart from the bald headed man.....I didn't like him at all.
The acknowledgement at the end of the audiobook is lovely and shows how dedicated the author was to research and write this.
A 5* read

I actually really enjoyed this, I sort of worked out the 'twist' about half way through so it wasn't a surprise but considering it's a retell of a children's story I was really impressed.
I will definitely check out the rest of the Lunar Chronicles to find out what happens.
Loved Cinder as she didn't take and sh#t from anyone, Iko was just so cute and Kai, well he was just swoonsome.
The queen was just a complete bitch and so was her ward Sybil.
I hope Cinder gets her prince, but we shall see.

Gush gush gush gush gush..........
If I didn't gush enough for you then let me break it down for you, I kinda LOVED this book.
I've read so much YA at the minute with instalove, rippling muscles and lopsided smiles ( What the hell is a lopsided smile anyway? I mean try to do one now....GO ON ... see, you look like a total freak, do it in the mirror ......do you look sexy hmm? NO you look like a serial killer! )
Anyway where was I ........ oh yeah gushing haha.
So this was not the usual YA book it was a little bit different.
Julie gets a placement for a university in Boston, gets her bags packed and off she goes, however when she gets there the apartment she has secured is not so much as secure but non existent.
Good old mum calls a friend of hers from years back who tells Julie to go and stay with them.............thats when the weirdness starts.
So Julie is collected by Matt who is a quite handsome but geeky to take her back to the house.
Later she is then joined at dinner by Erin (Mother and a bit of a snob) Roger ( A biologist who studies the excitment of shrimps!) Matt ( Geeky know it all with bad dress sense) Celeste ( Matts younger sister who talks like she is in a period drama) ........And Flat Fin (A lifesize cardboard cut out of the older brother!)
This at dinner is all perfectly normal with everyone no one even bats an eyelid at FF, and they just go about their dinner as normal.
This is also a tiny bit wierd for Julies liking, but then finds out that Fin is travelling around the world and Celeste uses the flat version to compensate for the fact her brother is not there.
Julie settles in nicely and gets close to all of the family especially Matt and Celeste, but most of all Fin.
Ahhhh Finn .....swoon.
Have you ever fallen in love with someone you have never met?
After friending him on facebook and chatting regularly Julie realises that they are falling for each other.
NOW dear readers after reading that little bombshell you would in fact be doing the whole erghhh...... come on Vicci you told us it wasn't an instalove book.
But this book is different....... it's like a jigsaw, you know when you start doing it you find the nice straight edges, fit them together and then the fun begins, and there is always that last piece, that you can not find, and it's always there but it's hiding behind the others. ...THAT IS THIS BOOK.
I laughed out loud
I nearly cried
I shouted OMG at the top of my voice.
What can I say............but gush!

I liked this book, it was well written mostly and I enjoyed the story.
Aria lives in a pod as well as thousands of others, they have to do this as after the Aether storms the planet was ravished, outside is now called The Death Shop.
Instead of going outside in real life they do it virtually with a smart eye attached to ......yep you guessed it their eye.
This takes them into different realms so they can experience different things and call it "Better than Real"
However there are people that live on the outside called Savages dum dum duuuummmm!
**Can you see where this is going yet?**
The Savages live in tribes run by The Blood Lord and they seem to have special abilities like extra sensory hearing and smelling.
Now when I heard the words Aether and Blood Lord together I nearly turned the book off as I had an awful feeling it was going to be another long boring book that didn't make any sense **cough cough [book:The Bone Season]** however is isn't so you can relax.
After being exciled from the pod after being set up Aria (Who sings , shock horror) wanders around nonchalantly trying to find somewhere to go, she is however nearly killed and is rescued by a Savage called Perry.
Perry is looking for his nephew who has been taken by one of the Pod people, (Moles to you and me) and Aria is looking for her mother who works at BLISS (another pod far away i think) So they link arms and skip off together to find them and to take Aria back home, although they don't link arms they hate each other.
This book was quite confusing as a lot of the words used were just left to your imagination and not described, I mean what the hell is the Aether?
Anyway as all YA books go, after a lot of anger and smoldering looks they fall for each other but not before they are nearly killed by cannibals and eaten by wolves.
I did enjoy the book and will read the others but hope that there is a bit more explanation in the next ones.
