I would now like to watch Sophia Coppola's adaptation of this book. I enjoyed the book more than I remember liking the movie, but I'm pretty sure I watched the move about ten years ago. I wonder if it wouldn't be enhanced after having read this story the way Eugenides meant it to be.
I would recommend this book if you liked Middlesex, but you're looking for a shorter read. It takes a little while to get used to the unusual narration style, but as the book develops, the narration draws you in, and makes you feel like you're part of the action (the main action being the watching of the Lisbon family).
