MB struggles with its feelings (NOT FEELINGS) for Mensa and the crew. Also lots of fighting and escaping etc etc.

The Desperate Duchesses series continues with its cast of thousands. Villiers is on the mend. Jemma and Beaumont are having a hard time reconciling but their book is next. Simeon has a disgusting plumbing problem and Isidore has to seduce the man she’s been married to for years already. this one dragged a little for me but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

This was cute but missing some tension for me that really would have made it sing. I wish RW had chosen to make this a marriage of convenience instead of a reality dating plot, alas. It’s good, but not my fave from Weatherspoon. A fun holiday read nonetheless.

This collection is in turns hilarious and heartbreaking but more than anything it’s validating. There are so many ways to be human and experience sex!

I am finding it challenging to really review this because I feel as though the author’s story is so incredibly sad but I’m also fascinated by her coping mechanisms. I also think Duchess Goldblatt as a fictional character on social media gives the reader an interesting look at parasocial relationships. What is a “real” friend? How much grace should we truly provide people who continually hurt us? When someone is hurting, how can we care for them as a community?

Short sweet and cute, I liked the two Jewish main characters in a holiday story. I enjoyed the multiple snow storms and how adorably head over heels Jake was for Rachel.

Lindy West is some kind of magician - every essay makes me laugh, cry and rage in equal measure. Oh to take a Time Machine back to 2019 when this book was published, when the 2020 election and COVID were on the horizon but not in our awareness. Alas.
