This was a very vulnerable memoir and I’m happy to see that Jennette is improving and living life for herself now. I hope she is proud of herself.

Are you shitting me this was the most wholesome book I’ve ever read. Absolutely left me with the warm fuzzies. I finished it a days ago and still think about it multiple times a day and smile.

There were definitely points in the book where I felt frustrated with how tightly wound Linus was but I think his strong reluctance is what made the pay off so beautiful. He really learned how to embrace adventure and do the right thing no matter what the rules state.

I loved every single character. When
Linus and Arthur kissed I literally kicked my feet and squealed like I was in middle school again.

11/10 will be one of my favorites of the year.

Pretty decent thriller. The ultimate bad guy didn’t surprise me at all though I predicted it very early on.
I think way too much detail was given about how nice and beloved by his patients the doctor was that to me it was obvious the author was trying to create shock value by making him the bad guy.

This book isn’t quite perfect *cough cough*
pregnancy trope
but I think it’s damn near close.

I just LOVE Quinn and Nick and I love the complexity of the “villain.” I didn’t find the twist the most shocking but that just reaffirms how wholesome and lovely this story is. So much love in these books.

These two leads felt like they had a bit more personality than the leads from the first book in this series. I liked this story, but I think it still airs on the side of decent.

This book was very good, but I think maybe my expectations were a little too high. It was incredibly well written but never blew me away.

Evelyn is such a beautifully complex character and even though she definitely did some immoral things, I do feel like I understand her.

My biggest problem is the “twist,” because to me it was very obvious (and I don’t consider myself particularly clever). The book itself builds up that there’s going to be a twist several times. By the time it’s revealed it’s literally the only thing that makes sense, making it obvious. I think alluding to the twist also made the second part of the book drag a little because instead of engaging with the story I was just waiting for the shoe to drop.

I know a lot of people said they cried reading this, but I never felt that emotionally connected.

Decent read and a VERY quick read. Got me out of a mini reading slump. The premise is… mmmm interesting. Overall I did enjoy the story but it was nothing to write home about. There are consent issues though which definitely lowers my rating.

And Then I Woke Up

DID NOT FINISH: 44%

The writing is really good but I don’t know I just couldn’t get into it. I think it started strong but got less interesting when they left the facility. I care so little about Leila (I think that’s her name) and 71 pages in I’m still really confused about what exactly the infection is.

This is a TOP TIER romance!! I foam at the mouth for the soulmate troupe and I’ve only ever previously read it in werewolf books. The execution of the soulmate troupe in this book was creative and beautiful. I absolutely loved Quinn and Nick, both individually and as a couple, which I feel like is hard to pull off for writers.

Their love is very pure and you can really see how much they care for and respect one another.

It’s hard to judge one book without the other, but for this book I definitely think too much time is spent with Quinn still engaged. She should’ve left him a lot earlier and led to a lot of pointless filler because we all know they’re going to break up at some point or another.

This was a really good first-half to the duality and one of my favorite romance novels of this year.

A very solid thriller! This was definitely an easy read and I devoured it in less than 24 hours. I think the format of the story, as us listening in on her therapy sessions, was a really interesting and good storytelling device.

I think ultimately I wished that the MC had like at least one solid person she could trust. I thought the romance-ish plot line was unnecessary but I didn’t hate it or anything.

I’m not even mad that her mom had something to due with the kidnapping, or that she never understood exactly how fucked up her actions were, because her mom sucked from the jump. I’m disappointed in her friend Cristina and her then-boyfriend Luke. I cannot believe Luke’s first instinct from hearing of the moms involvement is “your poor mother.” HUH???? Does no one understand the trauma MC has been through?! And I thought it was so weird that Cristina didn’t encourage MC enrolling in art school and pursuing her dream. I don’t think anyone would view that decision as running away. The animosity was so unfounded and confusing for me.

Overall, a very solid 4-star thriller and I do recommend it.
