One of the most atmospheric books I’ve ever read. I think the author did a great job at making you feel like you were in the rust belt and I felt like I really understood the community, it’s citizens, and everyone’s dynamic.

This was my first social horror and I really enjoyed the commentary.

While the story is meant to be mysterious, I did feel it all tied together too quickly and left me feeling a little underwhelmed. I think the blending of real people and the supernatural led to some confusion.

How To Marry A Marble Marquis

C.M. Nascosta

DID NOT FINISH: 25%

DNF at 25%

I really enjoy CM Nascosta’s writing but I hated the male love interest in this story. To be fair, the author warns in the beginning that he is a rake and gets with other women in the story. Just not my cup of tea but I look forward to her next release.

A short read and weird storyline that kept me engaged. I thought this book was good but I don’t really feel like I understood it. I don’t have any strong feelings about it.

A really good book about revenge and the domino effect of one horrible action. I think Naoki’s POV was boring since it didn’t really offer any new information, but everyone else’s really added a lot of depth to the story.

My jaw dropped at the ending I loved it.

I devoured this book! I really loved Mayumi and Faunus. Mayumi especially, she was kind of an asshole and I loved it. Most FMC’s aren’t so harsh so I thought it was refreshing. Faunus was very witty and playful and I loved it. Personally I enjoy the monsters with a lot of humanity so I enjoyed Faunus more than Magnar.

A lot of good world building in this world and I love learning more about the Duskwalkers and their “parents.” I’m looking forward to the next book!

P.S. I loved meeting the “twins” and I’m really hoping they share a bride!

A really wholesome book about being yourself that is sure to leave you with the warm fuzzies. If you enjoyed House in the Cerulean Sea then you’ll definitely enjoy this too.

I found Mita to be a little too quick to forgive after the conflict but that’s probably because I’m an unforgiving asshole.

This book is incredibly well written and engaging. I love video games so I personally loved all of the descriptions of the games and the worlds they built throughout the story.

It’s rare to find a story with such REAL characters. Everyone makes mistakes, sometimes do fucked up and selfish acts, but at the of the day I understand everyone’s perspective even when they’re not right or wrong.

Overall I found Sadie to be rather underdeveloped in comparison to Sam. I also found her storyline with Dov to be really boring and cliche and just overall unnecessary to the story.

A very good entry level book about race (as the title suggests). Very concise and informative.

If you’ve read a handful of race books before then you probably won’t get a whole lot of new information out of this one, but if you’re interested in learning and just starting out then start here!

A very sweet and endearing story about love and grief. It has a bit of a slow start but things do pick up. The ending is a little bit too picturesque but still good. I think all of the friendships/relationships developed really organically and I liked the slower development, it felt more real.

Maybe I’m petty but I wish Nat never reunited her friendship with Edie. Forgiveness and moving up is one thing but I could never go back to what it once was. Then again no one has ever accused me of being too forgiving lol.

This was cute and I think Dani and Zaf worked well together has a couple. I loved the positive tone and discussions about mental health, especially among men.

I didn’t connect with the grand gesture at the end, I’m not entirely sure why.

I liked Dani as a character but I was a little over the “I don’t date” attitude. It also took too long imo to understand why she was so against dating. Obviously not dating a completely valid choice for someone to make, but like this is a romance. I want to read about people who want to date haha.
