This was ridiculous and cheesy and I really enjoyed it. The first season is the best, but the entire show was great.

4.5 stars

The prose in this is slow and languid and just beautiful. This is sweepingly romantic and heavy with emotion. My only real problem with it is that the book is about 60% three years ago (when the relationship didn’t work out) and 40% now. The “3 years ago” chapters sort of start to repeat themselves, just in the way Zach and Eugenio are constantly having the same conversation/fight, and I got tired of how much work Zach put into staying in the closet. I got to a point where I just wanted to get back to the present day storyline, where Zach comes out and it works out for him and Eugenio.

That being said, the ending is fantastic. It didn’t end at all like I thought it would. (Really subverted my expectations there.) The ending is so good and I (mostly) forgive the book for the middle parts.

3.5 stars.

I think my main problem with enemies-to-lovers romances is that in order to maintain a rivalry, the MCs have to act like children. I’ve read very few books where the MCs had good reasons to dislike each other. This one is really no different. I liked the characters and the writing, but ultimately, the mutual dislike of each other for 2/3s of this book comes down to petty and immature actions.

I am kind of looking forward to the next book in the series though. Wyatt seems like a very levelheaded person.
