Love love love this. It was adorable and sweet and cute and fluffy and ackkkk! I just can’t deal with how cute this book is.
Also, really love the meta-ness of Rowell’s book Carry On is (in this book) written as fan fiction of a popular series.
Side note: really looking forward to Carry On #3. Maybe I need to go reread Carry On now.

This I struggled a bit to get into, but eventually read over 70% of it in one day. I liked the “adventure by normal people in a modern world” aspect of it. But ultimately, the book is a little heavy handed with the message it wants to share with you. I also completely called the ending and it really surprises me that no character in the book saw the ending coming. There’s also quite a bit of wacky things being believed and repeated by seemingly rational people and not one of the main characters questions said wacky things as anything but absolute truth.
All in all, it’s an interesting read but requires some suspension of disbelief.

The MC is surprisingly dense. “It’s been 4 years since Jerry left us.” “Oh really? Where’d he go?” kind of things. The romantic lead is spineless. And you mostly know what’s going to happen before it does. This was... fine.
The ending is eye-rolling level sappy but other wise this book is great. Excuse me while I go shove my body into the fridge.
This is the kind of grade B book where certain cliches and tropes are expected, and the book doesn’t follow reality, but it’s ok. I enjoyed the ride anyway.
This was great. Sexy (oh god, the sex) and fun and ... perfect. I’m already looking forward to rereading it.
A lot of this book flies over my head, but that’s because I’m pretty dense and not a fault of the book. It’s also a little grimdark for my taste, but that’s just personal preference. I totally get why this book has to be this way. It works for the book and for the story being told.
All in all though, this was really good. Well written, great characters and exposition well told. I’m looking forward to The Obelisk Gate.
