This was great. Fun, exciting, sexy, and at a few points, I considered crying. I actually laughed. (And that’s high praise from me. Lots of things get an internal LOL from me. Very little gets an out loud laugh.) I bought the second book and am greatly looking forward to it.
Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. I loved this book. I still have this big, stupid happy smile on my face - much similar to the one I had on throughout the book. I love this book. I love Lucien and Stephen. Merrick is everything I love in fictional bodyguards/personal attendants (I’m not sure what to call him exactly). I love the world and the magic and the magpies. I adore the magpies.
I just love this book. I can’t wait to read the others.

I’m not sure what I was expecting when I picked this up. But it certainly was a pleasant surprise that I got this. Tooth and Claw is like Downtown Abbey (scandals! proposals! confessions! betrayals!) but everyone is a dragon. I honestly forgot at times that all the characters are dragons, because they’re all so human.
I wish the book had gone a little further with the abolition plot line, but everything else is tied up rather well and this book makes a lovely slice of life fantasy.

I really enjoyed this. The magic system is unusual, particularly regarding how much detail is put into the cost of using magic. I enjoyed Sal’s narrative, and I have a soft spot for Liette. I really loved the balance of tense action packed scenes followed by just enough of a break to let you catch your breath. Sal is always finding herself in bigger trouble than she anticipated for and always manages to find her way out.
This was a really good, fun read and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

It’s 1:32 am. I just finished this book. I couldn’t possibly sleep until I had. It’s a perfectly fluffy and fun and funny fantasy romance. I really just loved everything about this book. The characters are great. Zale has a soft spot in my heart and I hope they get a book at some point. But even the foils in this book are so well written that you legitimately hate them.
I really love the world and the setting. I have two theories on the pantheon - one is that Kingfisher has this elaborate pantheon all constructed, with intense inter-god relationships and personalities and such, but Kingfisher is such a pro at only giving us exactly what we need to know that we don’t see anything but the tip of the iceberg. The other theory is that Kingfisher is just making up stuff about the gods as she goes along and is just so excellent at following up with whatever has been previously decided, that it reads like Kingfisher has got it all planned out.
I really adore these books and this setting. Clocktaur Wars is on my wishlist and I cant wait for the sequel to Swordheart and for Istvhan to get his own book as well. I just want 100 more of these books, please.

This was fantastic. I adore Everley and Jamison. And everyone else. I’m swooning. I can’t wait to see where this goes.
This review is only as short as it is because I’m lost for words and all I’m thinking right now is of the giddy excitement of a great story.

3.5 stars. I’m conflicted on how I feel about the ending. On one hand, I kind of feel like it was cheap and I have a few questions. On the other hand, I want to swoon. So..... ehhhhhh? *enormous shrugging*
