This book was like a fresh breath of air! Seriously, I needed this so bad. I haven't had the best luck with books lately, so thank you Mercy Thompson for breaking that bad book streak! I thought the characters were very interesting and I can't wait to read more about them! Especially Mercy! She was a tough, independent women without being a complete hard ass, I like that. There was definitely a little love triangle thing going on, but not so much so that it took away from the rest of the book. It was a great first book to what I hope will be a very enjoyable series!
My boots feel a little heavier having watched the movie before I read this book :( The book was pretty good, so many quotable lines in it! I loved that you got to know the Grandmother better in the book than you did in the movie. It just stinks going into a book knowing what's going to happen, it takes something away from it. It's not the books fault, it's completely my own. Next time I'll hold out and wait until I have read the book, or at least I'll try really hard to!
This book was crazy. I couldn't even imagine being in the situation that Mr. King was in. It would be an absolute nightmare. I think I must be a lesser person because I have a hard time seeing myself doing what he tried to do for his wife.
Each character really brought an interesting element to the story. My heart went out to each of them, even Joanie in the end. I know that sounds a little crewel that I didn't automatically sympathize with the lady in a coma but honestly she just didn't sound like that great of a person. I think that Joanie was a foolish, selfish woman and it showed all the way through with the way she was with her children, husband and even her friends. In the end though it was hard not to feel a little sorry for her, she made many poor decisions in life and she will never get a chance to make things better or know that she chose wrong. She had picked herself over her family and had she been around for the outcome she would have been the one to know loss.
Matt King was no angel either, he clearly had his priorities out of order but he really seemed to come around and want to do better in the end. Alex and Scottie were both interesting kids, they obviously have some pretty big issues but with their whole family dynamic it wasn't hard to see why they are the way they are. Sid was an interesting character, although I'm not quite sure if this story needed him in there or not.
I have to say I was really surprised to see how the whole story turned out. There were a few things that I really didn't see coming, and I liked that.

This was a cute book and I was happy to read it with my daughter and her entire school!
I love this series so far!! Seriously though, is there any strong, straight man in this book that isn't in love with Mercy?! There is this love rectangle going on right now! Adan, Stefan, Samual and little ole Mercy. I don't know that Stefan stands a chance, but I guess he's still in game anyways. I have to say I'm rooting for Adam. I hope that she makes a decision soon.
All the romantic mumbo jumbo aside, there was a great story going on in this book. I love that there are so many characters in this series that seem so interesting that we have just got a few glimpses of. I am also hoping to learn more about Mercy's heritage, the walkers seem very interesting to me. I feel like there could be so much more going on with them then we have been privy to thus far. Patricia Briggs has created this crazy awesome supernatural world and I am mesmerized by it! I can't wait to see what else is in store for Mercy in the next book.

Loved this book! I am devouring this series right now, I can't get enough. I really liked that Stefan was a big part of this book. He's an interesting character. I also liked that there was some progress made in the relationship between Mercy and Adam. Now on to book 5!
I really enjoyed this book. Seriously Jennifer Armentrout is incredible. I haven't read a book by her yet that I haven't emensly enjoyed! Half Blood left me with pretty much the same feeling I had after reading Obsidian, half thrilled with the ending and the other half ripping out my hair yelling, "WHY?!?!?", and you know what....I LOVE IT! it's a sweet torture that has me shelving any other book I was thinking about starting and going in the B&N store immediately following this review and purchasing the next book.
There were swords, war and dragons.....what's not to like about that?! I just wish I had the second book to read right now!
