This book just didn't do much for me. It wasn't bad it just wasn't for me. Nikolai and Renata really didn't interest me......at all. Nothing really stood out about this couple. Or maybe I'm just coming to the end of being interested in this series. I guess we will see how the next one goes.

This book was fantastic! I throughly enjoyed it. I found it beautifully written. I just love an author that can describe things so well without making it go on and on for 900 pages. She did a wonderful job creating a world or rather worlds that drew me in from the very beginning.

My only real complaint about this book was so minor it really wasn't an issue, more of a slight annoyance. Honestly at first I found it rather endearing when on the first page Karou was describing her day and said things like Mondayness and Januaryness. As things went on though and she added the "ness" to atleast 7 other words, I didn't find it as whimsical and cute any longer.

I never saw the end coming. It totally blindsided me and I loved every minute of it! I love a happy ending as much as the next girl but this ending felt more real to me. Things weren't black or white, people made mistakes and things weren't all wrapped up in a pretty bow. I'm glad I dont have to wait terribly long to read the next book and I hope it's just as good if not better than this one!

I thought this book was fantastic! I really enjoyed the narrative being from the elder Jacob and then the younger version as well. The older Jacob was great but hit close to home for me. It was hard not to think about my own grandparents while reading this story. It's funny how we seem to forget that our elders weren't always elder and have all these young, fun, charming, embarrassing, reckless stories from their youths. I would be lying if I said I didn't tear up a few times, I totally did. It was all worth it, this was a beautiful story and the end was nothing short of amazing.

I really enjoyed this book. I haven't really read many angel themed books so it was something new. I will definitely be reading book #2 soon!

I really enjoyed Dark Places. I thought it was a well written, captivating mystery that kept me guessing until the very end. This was my first Gillian Flynn novel and it definietely will not be my last! Seriously why have I not heard of this amazing author before now?! I have truely been missing out!

The characters in this book were so real. Everyone was so raw and this book really showed some of the worst in people. It was really something to still like some of these characters after some of the horrific things they said, thought, or did. I liked that Libby and Ben did grow a little throughout the book but there was never that unrealistic everything and everyone will be pretty and perfect and live happily ever after ending. That just wouldn't work with these characters and I'm so glad the author didn't go that route. I thought it was great that she created all these people that I really cared for and understood and felt compassionate for several of them. They were all flawed and made mistakes and ultimately, one way or another, they payed for those mistakes. It was just brilliantly done!

I thought I had it all figured out early on, I was pretty much patting my own back by half way through, boy was I wrong! I mean technically I had it partially right but there were some definite surprises and twists that I just did not see coming! I love that! It's so bittersweet when you solve the whole plot before the book is over. It's starts out feeling great, like you out smarted someone by figuring it all out ahead of the finish line. Then you get to the end and there's that twinge of disappointment, like "Oh, that really is it?". I was still secretly holding out for a surprise, something to take my ego down a peg and let me know I don't know it all. Dark Places did that for me, it basically said "You think you got it all figured out, don't you? Well.....in yo FACE!", and I enjoyed every minute of it!

I wanted to give this book 4 stars but figuring out pretty much the entire plot before the end kind of took away from the whole thing, it being a mystery and all.

I thought that Harper's ability and how she acquired it was very interesting. Other than that I thought her relationship with her step brother was pretty odd, seemed to me they had more than sisterly or brotherly feelings for eachother. It also struck me as odd how Harper pretty much panicked every time she was without her brother by her side.

I will definitely give the second book a try and see where the series goes.

I knew it!! I knew who it was from the start! Come on! It really is disappointing when that happens. I can also tell it's only a matter of time before Harper and Tolliver stop being brother and sister and start being together in very unsibling like ways. I don't think this series was bad but it is clearly not for me. Honestly, I really don't like Harper, and I find it disturbing that she can't even function on basic levels without Tolliver by her side. It would've been weird enough if he wasn't her step brother but throw that in the mix and it's now creepy too. I think I'm going to stop now. I truthfully tried to like this series but after reading two out of the series I'm still left with a bad taste in my mouth at the end and I just don't want to spend anymore time in Harper Connelly's world.
