The DaVinci Code, but with dolls and puzzles. Probably the best I can do to describe this one. A bingeable story, but it just overall didn't work for me. There was a mystery, a love story, magical realism. There were a lot of characters, but none of them were loveable. Or unlikeable. They were just all...there. I also wasn't entirely sold on the ending.
The writing. The layered plot. The distinct voices of the four sections that make up the book. The title and exploration into what trust means. All of it so well done.
Not as good as the first in the series, but still highly entertaining. And the ending is designed for a third book. Let’s hope there is one for some closure.

I really enjoyed this. Well-written, intriguing storyline, flawed characters. I have some questions about some of the characters’ motivations, but it didn’t distract enough to lessen my enjoyment.
This was a fast read. The plot of this is MUCH different from the first book, but it is clear where the story is heading for book three. This isn't the best writing, but I am invested. Preordered the next book.
This was okay, but it definitely could have been edited down a bit.
slow-paced
This was…not for me.
The world building and character development are there. There is an intriguing concept of a plot. However, this was so, so, so slow. And I like slow books. This read like a dry biography. It felt like this was the background info that is usually revealed in small anecdotes, flashbacks, and veiled references - like the entire book was leading up to where the story should have started. It was a struggle to pay attention to this, or even care about what was happening.

An interesting retelling of Arthurian legend. Pretty good character development, some world building, character-driven plot, family drama. I have a feeling that Morgan is going to come I to her own in book two. The pacing felt inconsistent to me and I would have liked I bit more world building (I want to know a lot more about everything).
I honestly don’t know how to review this one. I have mixed feelings about it. I don’t even know if this is really my rating for it or not.
