Powerful, heart-wrenching poems centering around/inspired by the poet’s grandmother, Rifqa El-Kurd. A beautiful and intense collection. This is one I will revisit.
Interesting concept. Quirky characters and plot. A touch of dark humor.
Short but intricate story about passion. This is the story of Henri, a young French soldier who ends up being Napoleon’s chef prior to deserting, and Villanelle, a young woman sold to the army by her husband. Their passion/love, both separately and together, are explored. Some of this worked well for me. Some parts did not.
A beautifully written memoir. Sinclair is open and honest, emotional and hopeful. I felt the book was a bit long/repetitive and the ending felt abrupt.
Spellbinding. Just the sort of book I love - slow, mysterious, and beautifully written.
Part memoir, part social commentary, part history. An interesting look at the impact the seven deadly sins has had and continues to have on women.
Another book that had my 7yo cackling. The names, the premise, the ridiculousness…he loved it. And I loved that he was so into it.

A harrowing yet hopeful memoir. Morin has accomplished so much despite the many horrific things she experienced.
I struggled with this book. There were aspects of it that were intriguing, but it fell flat overall for me. I feel like I would have loved this had it been around when I was in middle school…(hard to explain).

A short, and I mean short, poetry collection about relationships, survival, self-love, growth, heartbreak, and more. Broken into four sections, some poems hit harder than others but most were relevant if not relatable.
