I really enjoyed this book. The story is about two actresses in the 1950s, their lives and loves, the industry, and more - including a storyline of Salome and interviews with minor characters hinting at the book’s ending. Very well done.
A sweet book about a boy wanting to do well at his school’s fun run. My son loved the dedication the boy had (and the mentions of Usain Bolt). I liked that there was character development despite being an early reader chapter book.
I understand the hype around this book, but I ultimately felt let down. I will say that the audiobook was very well done. Great voice acting, great job making the podcast feel like a real podcast. However, I had some issues with the main character and I have a lot of questions about the murder investigation.
I wouldn’t have read this if not a selection for book club; I had never heard of it before. Slow but evenly paced. Hopeful despite highlighting the horrifying conditions of institutions of the 1960s.
This had a strong start and an interesting premise. Alternating timelines interspersed with podcast interviews added interest. It was bingeable - but it was predictable. And the ending was a bit unsatisfying…things were explained but not entirely wrapped up.
A short story with magical realism, passion, and a bit of humor. Interesting premise…would enjoy reading more about these characters and this otherworldly museum.
Memoir spliced with the author’s meditations on/interpretations of their religion.
Finally found a book that both my son and I enjoyed. This was silly, with fun graphics and an interesting storyline.
A really beautiful, thoughtful, personal collection of poems about the author's experiences in the world. Various topics covered, but essentially about identity and culture.
