3.5 - could have used a bit more steam with all the sexual frustration buildup. Leads had great chemistry, loved their opposite nature. Definitely could have solved a lot of problems with literally communicating with each other, but that trust can't be built over night. Patiently waiting for my don to be obsessed with me now
First time reading a Hades & Persephone retelling and it twas a fun modern take!
This has very "no you are the best" energy. Enemies to lovers contemporary sapphic romance between yoga studio renter and new cross fit gym owner/landlord.
There's so much communication it bordered on a bit too much for me. Some good steam, and also like seeing a nonbinary semi main character as a heroine's roommate.

2.5 starts - I did not get the instalove chemistry in this one. Made the ending not very believable. Also not a fan of how the mafia men treat women in general? The virgin innocent damsel in distress heroine trope was there, and the smut felt painful rather than pleasurable.
So stinking wholesome, heart wrenching, steamy, and kind.
So many animals, so in love with Simon and Jack's love. Simon must be protected at all costs.

I really liked how simple and straightforward this book was to explain the basic non binary they / them language. And to give some examples, grammar structure, and helpful ideas for being an ally to a non binary person. Giving gender neutral options for people. It definitely was a beginner's book/intro to non binary things. But I think kids or parents would find this helpful, especially if you know someone that is in this process and want to help them. I liked how they basically brought it down to "if my name is Robert but I ask you to call me Bob, and you call me Bob, its the same thing. If you choose to purposefully misgender me, then you are indifferent, lazy and rude." Yup. I also like the options for being an ally, and highlighting the need for communication - do you want me to immediately tell someone they fucked up, in private let them know, let it go, let you handle it. What do you need for me to support you. And emphasizing that it's OK if you make a mistake, and as long as you aren't intentionally misgendering or being rude, it's part of the process. Quick and short. Wish there was more than two white people explaining it, but what is important is the message they gave to the reader.
