In Compared, we meet Meg and Tyler. Meg is a teacher who recently lost her mother and Tyler is the father of one of her students who recently lost his wife.
While there is an undertone of grief it does not dominate the story. While this is a cute story, I wasn’t blown away or hooked into the story. Being a second grade teacher, I thought I would connect with the main character but I had a hard time connecting with her. I didn’t always feel the chemistry between these two. I usually read a rom-com and find myself smiling or laughing out loud. This book didn’t have me do either. Again, there was nothing wrong with the book, it was just okay. This book is clean with no spice. I do like the side character of Meg’s dad though.

Thank you to Netgalley and Putnam Books for an early copy of Lisa Scottoline's book "The Truth about the Devlins" in exchange for my honest review.
In The Truth about the Devlins we meet the Devlin family who are a family of lawyers. This book is told through the perspective of TJ Devlin who is not a lawyer and seen as the black sheep of the family. He has done some time in prison and has had some addiction issues. Due to his past, he works at his family's prominent law firm as an investigator.
This book was a little slow in the beginning and I had a hard time getting into it, but at about the 50% mark it picked up and I had to finish to find out what was going on. I had an idea of who was involved but there were still some twists and turns that added to the mystery. I loved how the book handled the heavy topic of addiction and family bonds.
The family dynamics were an interesting piece of the puzzle and had me confused as to who to believe at times. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed TJ as the black sheep underdog of the story. I wanted to root for him and wanted the best for him and his standing in the family.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it. 3.75 stars rounded up.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for sharing the digital review copy of this book with me in exchange for my honest review.
This book had me hooked from the first page. It was a faced paced thriller with some twists and turns that I didn't see coming. I really enjoyed Mary Kubica's Local Woman Missing and Just The Nicest Couple. This book will be added to that list!
In She's Not Sorry, we meed Meghan Michaels who is a recently divorced ICU nurse and mom of a teenage daughter. Meghan is a devoted nurse who tries to keep her personal life to herself and also tries not to get involved in the lives of her patients. When Caitlin comes into the ICU after a fall from a bridge the lines get blurred. Even though I was hooked from the first page, the last 30% had me reading as fast as I could and staying up way to late to finish. While I had some things slightly figured out, there were so many surprises that I didn't see coming.
There are heavy topics that were explored and dealt with in a sensitive and appropriate manner such as suicide and domestic violence.
There are multiple story lines going on but they are well written and woven together nicely,

A cute and short Christmas novella.
3.5 stars. In this book we meet Olive and Miles. It’s an enemies to lovers and fake dating romance.
Olive and Miles are coworkers at the same high school. Olive goes to a lodge with her family for Christmas. Her ex boyfriend will be there so Olive says she is dating someone and that someone happens to show up at the lodge.
This book was cute but I didn’t really connect with the characters.
