This book was interesting, although I did find it less interesting than the first book. Mal was insufferable in this book, but Alina’s character was more interesting. The ending was a bit confusing, and I’m honestly not entirely sure what happened between the Darkling and Alina in this book. Otherwise this was a pretty good book.

Also the relationships in this book are weird. In the first book I was definitely rooting for Mal, but he was terrible in this book and was getting mad at Alina for stupid reasons, and he missed Zoya which sucked. And Nikolai being a love interest for Alina was completely brushed over. He said how he feels about her twice, and then it was completely forgotten about. And what to say about the Darkling. He is disgusting and he’s basically been like stalking her, or he visits her randomly and it’s just super weird and creepy.

Some trigger warnings in this review and book are SA, abuse, fire.

I loved this book. It was really nice to learn and understand Levana’s backstory and see how truly terrible she is. In this book you can see how there are many unfortunate events in her life like her sister trying to burn her, but even that doesn’t justify all the terrible things she’s done. The things she did to Evret were horrific, how she SA him, and constantly manipulated him. It was also so sad to see how he married her so he could be alive, and ended up killed by her anyways. This book was interesting to read, but before reading this book you should probably read the TW.

This book was so good. Alya and Crier have such a nice relationship together, and the epilogue was just so sweet and cute. The plot was interesting to read, and it felt like a good end to the series. I wish we got to see more of what happened to Storme and Benjy, the ending felt a bit rushed, but it was still a really good and interesting book.

Good stories, pretty interesting.

This book was my favourite in the series. The last chapter was amazing, I need another book or something. This book was so interesting, the plot was great, the fight scenes were interesting, and the deaths were so sad. I was so glad glad that Nova and Adrian were together in the end, although I would have liked more closure on the whole patrol unit situation now that they new that Nova was nightmare. Otherwise I loved this book.

This book was so good. From the beginning it was kind of obvious that Bri would get her mom back, but even so this book kept me captivated. Persephone’s death was so sad.

What to say about this book. Overall, it was a good book. Évangeline was an interesting character, as well as her dynamic with Jacks. Jacks is such an entertaining character, and he made this book really interesting. I didn’t find the plot to be as good as the other Caraval books, but I still enjoyed the storyline. I can’t wait to read the second book.

I liked this book. I was so glad when Belly kind of gave up on Conrad and chose Jeremiah, but it probably won’t last long. I felt Belly was a bit annoying at times in this book, and I wish we got to learn more about Susannahs death. Other than all that I think it was a really good book. I also loved the multiple POVs in this book but I would’ve liked Conrad’s POV.

3.5 stars.

Overall I would say this book was a good introduction to the Grishaverse universe. In some ways it well explained the different elements of the universe, although in someways it was confusing. Mal was also not a great love interest in the beginning of the book, but I think that toward the end and the letter he wrote somewhat made up for it.
