I don’t know if I’ll ever be over how good this book is- Bardugo’s writing is so good I feel as if I’m living and breathing in the damp streets of Ketterdam.
I love each and every one of her complex characters and their accompanying backstories. There’s so much variation (partly due to the detailed world building) that you really feel involved in this while world that you’re introduced to.
Before reading this for the first time, I was a little off put by its description of a heist novel- but it’s genuinely one of my favourite books. The dialogue is quick and witty, and the relationships within the band of criminals are continually keeping you on your toes.
Also very excited for the Netflix adaption that’s on its way!

Perfect ending, all that I could for. I love Ketterdam so much and am very excited to read King of Scars and see more of Nina and her waffle obsession

Had no idea what to expect with this one, I’ve had it sat on my shelf for a large part of this year. Finally got round to reading it and it was actually pretty cute. Aideen’s dialogue had me laughing out loud in parts and I felt like I could relate a lot to Maebh’s overworking tendencies. My one thought is that some of the swearing (especially at the start) was a bit clunky/unnecessary but that’s probably down to personal preference!
All in all, a bunch of lovely characters looking out for each other and also falling in love ❤️

First book of 2022! The cutest thing ever- mythology inspired, sapphic romance with stunning colourful artwork. Loved the representation of female friendships as well. Will be looking out for more from this author!

There were a couple of lines I thought were beautiful in this but did I enjoy the book? I don’t think so
If you’ve read this then you’ll know what I mean when I say that my jaw is on the floor

• ”Where do you start someone’s story when every life has more than one thread and what we call birth is not the only beginning, nor is death exactly an end?”
• “If families resemble trees, as they say, arborescent structures with entangled roots and individual branches jutting out at awkward angles, family traumas are like thick, translucent resin dripping from a cut in the bark. They trickle down generations.”
• “While religions clash to have the final say, and nationalisms teach a sense of superiority and exclusiveness, superstitions on either side of the border coexist in rare harmony.”

Read as an audio for pride month:
•Japanese-American and Mexican-American lesbian protagonists
•Lovely audiobook to listen to, felt immersed in Sana’s thoughts
•Such stressful miscommunication/decision making oh my word, had me cringing on behalf of characters
•Complex themes of family and identity, also touching on issues of racism and homophobia from different perspectives
