This book really took my by surprise. When I first heard about the plot I thought it might be interesting but it wasn't something I'd pick up right away and / or by myself. I thought that it might be just another story about a journey in a fantasy world. What I didn't know is that this book was sooooooo much more.

I picked it up because it was the September book of fairyloot. As said before I probably wouldn't have picked it up by myself but thanks to the box I did.

I saw dragons, familiers, ghosts and fire demons in this amazing book. I really enjoyed tge various creatures this world held. The characters were well fleshed out and nice to read. I really liked Kamzin and Tem.

For me the whole journey was really fastinating and interesting to read. It is true that for about 75% of the book not much happenes. It focuses on character and world building in that part, which in my opinion is absolutely OK. There were still quite many twists and unexpected turns that kept me interested.

The author did a very good job in world building. I really enjoyed seeing that in this book.

I'm really sad that the book ended so soon. I really can't wait to see how things are continuing in the next book. I'll definetly will get the second book once it comes out.

I'll give this book 4.5 stars

When I first picked up this book I was fascinated by it as I somehow was able to relate to Eliza. She was heavily introverted and... well so am I. However, I soon found out that her introversion is way stronger than mine. I truly like Eliza, even though she sometimes acts younger than her age (however that's understandable in my opinion as all the things she went through were new to here so it fit). I think her story is inspirational and sets a good example that sometimes it's good to go towards people. To get to know others and to take chances.

I really enjoyed the story. It was easy to read which for me was really great as I just got back into reading. Some description felt a bit cringey (for example when Eliza described that she was sitting so close to Wallace that she could see his eyelashes touch his cheeks) but that wasn't too bad in my opinion. In the end I really enjoyed it, which kinda showed in how fast I wen through it. The story truly captivated me.

Also amazing artwork in it!!!!
