Loved this. Page-freaking-turner! I don’t even know what else to say except if you enjoyed One of Us Is Lying, you NEEEEEED to pick this one out. What an amazing book!
2.8-3 stars. I was really enjoying this. I love the setting and the personalities of different characters. But, when it comes to the reveal, I felt a bit disappointed. It's not the who I was disappointed by, it was the why. Though I wasn't sure what I wished it would be but just something else lol. Still, it was a fun read and I was never bored.
2.5 stars! Having read Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo first, this one is definitely not on the same level but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good book. I listened to this as an audiobook and boy, it got me teary many times. I would love for Elsie’s & Ben’s relationship to be more fleshed out. I’m very drawn to their somewhat impulsive but passionate relationship and I want to know more. Incredible sad but hopeful towards the end. Looking forward to reading more TJR!
Just finished the audiobook for this one. But firstly, WHY did I not read this sooner?! Secondly, I think I've found myself a new favourite author. Time to get more Taylor Jenkins Reid's books (TBR is crying).
I understand now why people loved this book. I must admit that I do find some parts a bit melodramatic, but I was not too bothered. I will say that never have I cared so much about the characters in a book. They all felt so real and flawed. You know, humans.
I don't know if I'm the last person to read this book but if there you haven't, just give it a go! I thought it was perfect as an audiobook but I'm gonna grab myself a physical copy to reread next time.

4.5 stars! WHAT A BOOK. Goodness, I’m not even sure what to say. It’s everything you want from a psychological thriller. Amazing pace first of all, it kept my eyes and brain moving and I could not stop reading.
It’s a book that not only shows the ugly side of technology but also the unsettling ugly side of humans. I cared and hated some characters in a good way because of John Marrs’s clever way of developing these characters.
I say this is worth the read!

Let's start with the good parts. I thought this book kept my attention and I wish I could have sat down for a few hours and just devoured the book in a day. It was easy to read and I enjoyed the dual timeline of going back to the past and the present. I like knowing about what happened that made the characters the way they are whether I like it or not haha.
There were a number of things I learnt about the characters in the past that got me giving them the eye lol and was looking forward to where that would lead to and sometimes, it went kinda nowhere. Just a piece of history for you know, I guess?
It's a family drama and I haven't read many of those so I don't mind that part and also set in Australia which is nice!
Overall, not a very thrilling thriller but not the worse. But I also won't tell you to drop what you're reading now to get to this one either.
I read this as a buddy read and it was really fun to talk about what happened in the book and share our thoughts. It really adds to the enjoyment of the book so thank you to my buddy (:
That said, I look forward to try out more books by the author!

I listened to this as an audiobook and I found that it's a great one to listen to. It's quite an accessible non fiction which explores some of the notorious cults, some I've heard of and some not. And for that reason, it was an eye opener, not because I need someone to tell me the dangers of cults but more because I wasn't aware about some of the notorious ones out there. I appreciate the research the author has done.
Listening to this made me even more aware of words being used in Social Media nowadays and also getting me to go into the rabbit hole of looking up cult histories lol.
That said, I don't think the language is heavily explored but still a great listen and a great place to start if you're just getting into non-fiction.

“Just because something isn’t meant to last a lifetime doesn’t mean it wasn’t meant to be.”
One of the many things being said in this book that truly touches me.
Such a great book. The storytelling is so well thought-out. The characterisation and the character growth is so amazing. It really made me just want to stay and find out what will happen next. I feel like I could almost feel how the main character is feeling. It's just so painfully real. Honestly, I kinda just don't know what else I could say.
Except that, this book made me really think about the people in my life.
