The Storyteller will definitely be on my list of favorite books I read this year. There is nobody on this earth as cool as Dave Grohl and there is nothing you can say that will convince me otherwise. I highly recommend listening to this title as an audiobook since Grohl narrates it himself and it really elevates the writing. I loved learning about his personal life in addition to his career as a rock legend. It is clear that he is just as passionate about being a good person as he is about being a good musician. I will be recommending this memoir to everyone regardless if they are a fan of his work or not. (But really, who doesn't love his music?)

While I do not read a lot of historical fiction, I always enjoy Davis' writing. Her ability to rip her readers out of the 21st century and place them into the time her stories are set in is nothing short of magical. The Magnolia Palace features the Frick mansion, an iconic building in New York City. Like her other books, Davis uses a historic landmark for the setting of her fictional writing. The "formula" she uses to write her books is really clever and I am excited to see what she will publish next.

What She Witnessed is the ultimate evil mother-in-law story. Some people may find their in-laws annoying or just not get along with them, but Kelly, the protagonist in this story, takes the cake with having the most horrible mother-in-law. What She Witnessed was an interesting thriller mystery. It kept my attention and I thought that the story was pretty unique. However, the writing itself was not great and a lot of the dialogue came across as cheesy. If the characters had seemed more realistic, I would have probably given this title a higher rating.

Sage Caplin, a young woman running a hip coffee cart with her friend in Portland, Oregon, is back in Double Shot Death. But this time she has a travel cart and she has brought it and her hunky new boyfriend to a music festival outside of the city. While she is busy selling coffee to hungover concert-goers, she finds herself involved in another murder investigation. It's funny how often that happens in cozy mysteries, huh? Compared to the first book in this series, Fresh Brewed Murder, this title was just okay. I thought the plot was a bit slow and there wasn't much character growth for Sage. I wish that there had been more scenes between Sage and her new boyfriend, Bax, but this isn't a romance so I understand why they weren't the focus of the story. I am not sure if I will continue reading this series because I was a little bit bored with this title.

Randy Rainbow, a musical comedian who you have definitely seen on your social media feeds before, absolutely shines in this memoir. He is brazenly honest about his life and his comedic wit is sprinkled throughout every chapter. Rainbow is a true role model for anyone who doesn't feel like they fit in with the "regular" crowd and encourages others to embrace their authentic selves. While this memoir had me laughing out loud, it did feature some more serious chapters as well. So prepare yourself for the emotional rollercoaster that this book is.

Even though I didn't love The Worst Best Man, another novel by Sosa, I decided I would give her writing a second chance. I am not sure what it is about her male characters, but I just find them all super cringey. Dean, the male protagonist in this book, is boring and has pretty skewed priorities. Once again, the female protagonist outshines her love interest and is way too good for the guy Sosa created for her. I will probably avoid future novels from this author because I just don't like how she writes her male characters.
