“Sarah Morgan is a successful and powerful defense attorney in Washington D.C. As a named partner at her firm, life is going exactly how she planned. The same cannot be said for her husband, Adam. He’s a struggling writer who has had little success in his career and he tires of his and Sarah’s relationship as she is constantly working.

Out in the secluded woods, at the couple’s lake house, Adam engages in a passionate affair with Kelly Summers. But one morning everything changes. Kelly is found brutally stabbed to death and now, Sarah must take on her hardest case yet, defending her own husband, a man accused of murdering his mistress.

The Perfect Marriage is a juicy, twisty, and utterly addictive thriller that will keep you turning pages. You won’t see the ending coming . . . guaranteed!”

This book really hooks you in and you become very invested. I really enjoyed hearing both Adam and Sarah’s side of the story and how Sarah defends Adam even though Adam cheats on her. I gave this 3 stars because I totally guessed who was the killer and the motive like within the first chapter and it ruined it for me. But, I still thought this was okay. I just found out this is optioned to become a movie or tv show and definitely think this would be a great book to turn into a movie or show.

“Persephone, young goddess of spring, is new to Olympus. Her mother, Demeter, has raised her in the mortal realm, but after Persephone promises to train as a sacred virgin, she’s allowed to live in the fast-moving, glamorous world of the gods. When her roommate, Artemis, takes her to a party, her entire life changes: she ends up meeting Hades and feels an immediate spark with the charming yet misunderstood ruler of the Underworld. Now Persephone must navigate the confusing politics and relationships that rule Olympus, while also figuring out her own place—and her own power.

This edition of Smythe’s original Eisner-nominated webcomic Lore Olympus features a brand-new, exclusive short story, and brings the Greek pantheon into the modern age in a sharply perceptive and romantic graphic novel.

This volume collects episodes 1–25 of the #1 WEBTOON comic Lore Olympus.”

This is a longer graphic novel then I usually read, but it really only took 1 hour to read the 384 pages. The illustrations in this book are gorgeous and very colorful. I really enjoyed the story and I’m a sucker for Greek mythology. I couldn’t put this book down. I can’t wait to read the next volume in the summer.

“Golden Girl follows Nantucket novelist Vivi, who gets one final summer — after she is killed in a hit-and-run accident — to protect her secrets and learn from her mistakes while her loved ones still on earth try to solve the mystery of her death.

Vivian Howe, author of 13 beach novels and mother of three young adults, is killed in a hit and run car accident while jogging near her home in Nantucket. She ascends to the Beyond where she's assigned to a Person named Margaret, who agrees Vivi's death was unfair. Margaret allows Vivi to watch what happens below with her children, her best friend, her ex-husband, and her rival novelist (whose book is coming out the same day as Vivi's).

Margaret gives Vivi the use of three "nudges" so that she might influence the outcome of events in the world of the living. Vivi discovers her children's secrets, watches the investigation of her death (headed by Chief Ed Kapenash from The Perfect Couple) and worries about a secret from her youth, fictionalized in her novel, coming to light.

Combining Elin's trademark beach scenes, mouth-watering meals, picture-perfect homes and other Nantucket landmarks with a heartfelt message — the people we lose never really leave us — Golden Girl is a beach book unlike any other.”

I have only read a few books by Elin Hilderband and she always makes me want to go to Nantucket. I loved all the flashbacks about Vivi and her children. Her children in present time were interesting with the paths they take after their mother dies. I enjoyed watching Vivi watch her family from Heaven. One thing I love about her books that there is a mystery and that it is hard to guess what actually happened or who it was. Definitely pick this up since it’s really great.

“They have always scared him in the past—the Rangers, with their dark cloaksand shadowy ways. The villagers believe the Rangers practice magic that makes them invisible to ordinary people. And now 15-year-old Will, always small for his age, has been chosen as a Ranger's apprentice. What he doesn't yet realize is that the Rangers are the protectors of the kingdom. Highly trained in the skills of battle and surveillance, they fight the battles before the battles reach the people. And as Will is about to learn, there is a large battle brewing. The exiled Morgarath, Lord of the Mountains of Rain and Night, is gathering his forces for an attack on the kingdom. This time, he will not be denied. . . .

Here is the fantasy adventure that launched the Ranger's Apprentice series, an epic story of heroes and villains that has become an international phenomenon. Perfect for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, T.H. White’s The Sword in the Stone, Christopher Paolini’s Eragon series, and George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire series.”

I’m not sure why they are saying for fans of Game of Thrones when this is a middle grade series…Anyway, it typically don’t pick up middle grade books. For those who don’t know I work with children who have disabilities and I know this one student who loves to read. I always go up to them and ask them if they are reading anything good. Well, the recommended this book to me. When I told them I was going to read it over Thanksgiving break, they got a super big smile on their face. I really enjoyed this book and I am sucker for anything fantasy. I enjoyed the characters and the world. Definitely pick this up.

“Spensa’s life as a Defiant Defense Force pilot has been far from ordinary. She proved herself one of the best starfighters in the human enclave of Detritus and she saved her people from extermination at the hands of the Krell—the enigmatic alien species that has been holding them captive for decades. What’s more, she traveled light-years from home as an undercover spy to infiltrate the Superiority, where she learned of the galaxy beyond her small, desolate planet home.

Now, the Superiority—the governing galactic alliance bent on dominating all human life—has started a galaxy-wide war. And Spensa’s seen the weapons they plan to use to end it: the Delvers. Ancient, mysterious alien forces that can wipe out entire planetary systems in an instant. Spensa knows that no matter how many pilots the DDF has, there is no defeating this predator.

Except that Spensa is Cytonic. She faced down a Delver and saw something eerily familiar about it. And maybe, if she’s able to figure out what she is, she could be more than just another pilot in this unfolding war. She could save the galaxy.

The only way she can discover what she really is, though, is to leave behind all she knows and enter the Nowhere. A place from which few ever return.

To have courage means facing fear. And this mission is terrifying.”

Did you know Brandon Sanderson said this book was the hardest book he has ever written in his career? I learned this at the event I got to watch and I have to say he nailed this book really well and this is my favorite book of the series. I laughed, I got frustrated, I got angry, I felt sorrow, and I cried. This book was everything and more than I wanted. I love the growth of all our characters and how much they matured from book one. I loved the plot twists. I just loved this book so damn much. I really am looking forward to Defiant now and how everything is going to wrap up in this series. If you want an amazing series, then pick this up because Brandon will not do you wrong.

“Kiva Meridan is a survivor.

She survived not only Zalindov prison, but also the deadly Trial by Ordeal. Now Kiva’s purpose goes beyond survival to vengeance. For the past ten years, her only goal was to reunite with her family and destroy the people responsible for ruining their lives. But now that she has escaped Zalindov, her mission has become more complicated than ever.

As Kiva settles into her new life in the capital, she discovers she wasn’t the only one who suffered while she was in Zalindov—her siblings and their beliefs have changed too. Soon it’s not just her enemies she’s keeping secrets from, but her own family as well.

Outside the city walls, tensions are brewing from the rebels, along with whispers of a growing threat from the northern kingdoms. Kiva’s allegiances are more important than ever, but she’s beginning to question where they truly lie. To survive this time, she’ll have to navigate a complicated web of lies before both sides of the battle turn against her and she loses everything.”

I freaking loved The Prison Healer and was so excited for the sequel. However, it felt disappointing to me. I found the writing to be engaging and great, but I had a hard time wanting to actually to read the book. Yet, I have been battling depression this month and reading has a chore. But, I found a lot of the twists to be very predictable and I guessed the fate of the characters and a lot of things that were happening toward the middle and end of the book, which really ruined it for me. I do plan to read book three.

“In Carry On, Simon Snow and his friends realized that everything they thought they understood about the world might be wrong. And in Wayward Son, they wondered whether everything they understood about themselves might be wrong.

In Any Way the Wind Blows, Simon and Baz and Penelope and Agatha have to decide how to move forward.

For Simon, that means deciding whether he still wants to be part of the World of Mages — and if he doesn't, what does that mean for his relationship with Baz? Meanwhile Baz is bouncing between two family crises and not finding any time to talk to anyone about his newfound vampire knowledge. Penelope would love to help, but she's smuggled an American Normal into London, and now she isn't sure what to do with him. And Agatha? Well, Agatha Wellbelove has had enough.

Any Way the Wind Blows takes the gang back to England, back to Watford, and back to their families for their longest and most emotionally wrenching adventure yet.

This book is a finale. It tells secrets and answers questions and lays ghosts to rest.”

I loved that this book wrapped the series up well. I love how quirky and engaging Rainbow Rowell’s writing is. I just love Baz and Simon together. I loved that this book took place back in England. I do wish I read this series in physical form because I felt like I missed things while listening to the audiobook. I do recommend this series and any Rainbow Rowell book.

“Steeped in intrigue and betrayal, Burning Glass captivates with heartrending romance, dangerous magic, and one girl’s quest for redemption.

In Riaznin, it’s considered an honor for Auraseers like Sonya—girls with a rare form of synesthesia—to serve as the emperor’s personal protector, constantly scanning for feelings of malice and bloodlust in the court. But Sonya would rather be free.

After the queen’s murder and a tragic accident, Sonya is hauled off to the palace to guard a charming yet volatile new ruler. But Sonya’s power is reckless and hard to control. She’s often carried away by the intense passion of others.

And when a growing rebellion forces Sonya to side with either the emperor who trusts her or his mysterious brother, the crown prince, Sonya realizes she may be the key to saving the empire—or its greatest threat.”

I for one always wanted to read this book because the cover is so gorgeous. Then, there is royalty, rebellion, and betrayal, which is all I love in books. Especially royalty because I’m a sucker for that in books. Anyway, this book really fell flat for me and it could have been because I had it on audio. I’m not sure.

“Their union is his revenge.

Isolde de Lara considers her wedding day to be her death day. To end a years-long war, she is to marry vampire king Adrian Aleksandr Vasiliev, and kill him.

But her assassination attempt is thwarted, and Adrian threatens that if Isolde tries kill him again, he will raise her as the undead. Faced with the possibility of becoming the thing she hates most, Isolde seeks other ways to defy him and survive the brutal vampire court.

Except it isn't the court she fears most—it's Adrian. Despite their undeniable chemistry, she wonders why the king—fierce, savage, merciless—chose her as consort.

The answer will shatter her world.”

Oh my gosh. This was everything I needed and more. This book definitely has a lot of smut, but it does have a plot line. I can’t do books that are just smut and not much to it. But, this really delivered and I freaking loved it. Adrian is bae. This book was very addictive and I had a hard time putting it down. I love the world and want to see more of it. I love all the tropes that were thrown at us and I’m a sucker for all of them. I love how badass both Adrian and Isolde were and how they didn’t put up with things with others and and between themselves. I love how ruthless Adrian can be, but how sweet he is to Isolde. This was just everything. I need more. You all have to read it so I can gush with all of you.

“For as long as she can remember, Evangeline Fox has believed in true love and happy endings…until she learns that the love of her life will marry another.

Desperate to stop the wedding and to heal her wounded heart, Evangeline strikes a deal with the charismatic, but wicked, Prince of Hearts. In exchange for his help, he asks for three kisses, to be given at the time and place of his choosing.

But after Evangeline’s first promised kiss, she learns that bargaining with an immortal is a dangerous game — and that the Prince of Hearts wants far more from her than she’d pledged. He has plans for Evangeline, plans that will either end in the greatest happily ever after, or the most exquisite tragedy...”

For one when it comes to Stephanie Garber, I just have to read her books. Her books are beautiful and magical. You really feel like you are there. I loved Caraval and it’s magic, so I just had to read this. However, I do have to disclaim that I never finished Finale. I will finish it and want to in 2022. I have a huge problem that I get excited for a book and then I stop that book because I get excited for another book. Probably why I have 40 currently reading books on Goodreads. Yeah, it’s bad. Anyway, back to the review. I really loved Evangeline and her story. She’s wanting a happy ever after and is dealing with a fate named Jacks. Which, I adored Jacks in the Caraval series. Them interacting was very fun. I just felt like this was a fun read. I really am rooting for Jacks and Evangeline to get together. I hate Marisol from the beginning and don’t trust her. I really enjoyed this, but did find Evangeline a bit annoying in the beginning.
