Mia is overly focused on ballet. She wants to be a professional ballerina. She goes to a six week prestigious ballet program in Paris and is competing to get an audition with a ballet troupe. While in Paris, she meets Louis a handsome French boy and she is afraid of getting distracted, but she also wants to live life. Will she be able to do ballet and be with a boy? Also, she is trying to find an ancestor in a painting. Will she be able to do that?
This book was a fresh breath of air. It was just so good and cute and everything I wanted. I loved the ballet and how proactive Mia is. The romance was adorable. I loved them looking for the painting to see if she really did have an ancestor that did ballet in Paris. I loved the friendships that were made. I highly recommend this book.

Legacy of Ash is an epic fantasy that has a lot characters. One is a demon, another is stuck in a seat of power he doesn’t want, a sister who wants to marry to leave where she came from, and a person who has been cursed.
This book started off good and I liked it. However, as I went on with the story I just got really bored. All the characters sounded the same and I started to mix them up a bit. I am really disappointed that I dnfed because I tend to enjoy epic fantasy novels.

Danny was convicted of killing his girlfriend. His father and sister, Maggie thinks he’s innocent. Matt, his brother does think Danny did it. While away at college, Matt’s family-his parents, Maggie, and Tommy go on a last minute vacation to Mexico. However, with only a few days there, they are found dead by a gas leak. The FBI gets involved and they aren’t sure it was really an accident and think something happened to them since Mexico is not working with them and everything has been wiped clean. What happened to Matt’s family? Is Danny innocent?
For one I usually don’t really enjoy thrillers anymore because I guess who did it or what happened, but with this book I didn’t guess anything. This book will keep you guessing. It’s told in multiple point of views from before the trip, during the trip, and present time. I thought this book was well done. It kept me engaged and I haven’t read a book super fast like this in a while.

Frodo is entrusted with the ring given by his cousin Bilbo. He must take a journey through Middle Earth to the Cracks of Doom to destroy the ring. The ring is to rule them all, find them, and take them all over with darkness.
I am doing the summer reading program at my library and needed a classic to read, so I decided to read this since I’ve never read The Lord of the Rings. Plus, I’ve always heard that The Lord of the Rings has paved the way for modern fantasy. I’m a huge fantasy lover, so I thought I should finally read this. It was good. I enjoyed the adventure and the characters. I did find the writing to be a bit dry, but this was written at a different time than ours.

Furiously Happy is a memoir about mental illness. The author suffers from depression, anxiety, and a personality disorder. She lines up her medicine bottles and signs them like she would with her books. She finds happiness during the dark times while battling mental illnesses.
I picked this book because I needed a biography for the summer reading challenge my library is doing. I noticed this was about mental illness and I battle bipolar disorder and anxiety, so I thought this book could speak to me. I totally relate to the author when it comes to thinking your crazy. The author was hilarious in the book and I could relate to the antipsychotic chapter. She is very outspoken and a tad bit weird, but it was all good. I really enjoyed this memoir and found myself laughing out loud on my walks with Riot. I may have looked like a crazy lady laughing at myself, but it’s all good.

For the Wolf is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It does have a little bit of Little Red Riding Hood, but it’s mostly Beauty and the Beast. Red is the second daughter of the Queen and she is meant to be sacrificed to the Wolf in the Wilderwood. Her twin sister, Neve, who was born first is destined for the throne. Neve and Arrick try to convince Red to run, but she decides she must not and accepts her fate. She has these powers that seem dangerous and she feels like she must enter in the Wilderwood to protect those that she loves. While Red is in the Wilderwood, she meets the Wolf and he isn’t what he seems to be. Meanwhile, Neve and Arrick are trying to find ways to get Red back.
This book was an anticipated read for me. Once I learned about this book I felt like I must have it. It’s definitely a dark fantasy book. The Wilderwood was interesting with its magic. I enjoyed the ensemble of characters. Each one was unique. The twists were well played even though I did guess a few. I did feel like the romance was a bit rushed. This book kept me wanting to keep reading. I definitely can’t wait for the sequel, For the Throne.

Agnes loves living in Red Creek in the compound. She is highly religious and dutiful. Her brother suffers from Type 1 Diabetes, so Agnes has to secretly meet with outsiders to get insulin so her brother can live. She finds out there is an epidemic going around and the prophet wants them in a bunker for 400 days. She runs with her brother and learns that Red Creek is a cult and that her prophet is a liar and murderer.
This book has dual point of views from the two sisters-Agnes and Beth. There is a lot of talk of faith and God. I found some parts to be far fetched and crazed. Overall, it was a great book.

Gwen’s life has changed once she found out she is a Ruby, which she is the final member of the secret time-traveling Circle of the Twelve. She’s been trying to find the prophecies regarding the Circle.
I first read Ruby Red in early 2017 and been wanting to finish the series, but other books came first and I finally just got to this book. I’ll admit I forgot some stuff from the first book, so I was a bit confused. However, this book is not in my reading taste compared to now versus back in 2017. My reading tastes have definitely changed over the years. This book was an easy read though and I liked the romance.

I’m finally done!!!! Dobby is free!!! Okay, let me preface I preordered this back in 2018 or 2019 and this book was delivered to my kindle on release day in February 2019. I was so excited to read it and actually started it right away and I got around 80 to 100 pages or so in. I was majorly confused on what was happening. I stopped it because I’m horrible at finishing books at times because other new books come out. Anyway, fast forward to this year I decided in April or May that I would read it, but didn’t get to it until the beginning of June. It took me most of the month to read it because I was only devoting an hour to two of reading on my kindle while focusing on physical library books. As I started this I was once again confused and had a hard time keeping up with who. I finally got it around 300 pages of what was going on and who was who. I found parts to be great, but parts to be slow. The ending felt rushed and the battle only lasted maybe 30 or 40 pages and that was disappointing to me. I think Samantha Shannon may not be for me because I found the Bone Season to be meh as well.

A kingdom is on the brink of war. Sage never wants to get married. She is an apprentice to a matchmaker and helps girls get matched to be married. She spies on the girls and on the soldiers that escorts the girls. She meets a solider that is trying to get intel on her and the girls.
This book was just okay. I liked it at first, but as the book went on I was like I don’t care anymore. I was annoyed with Sage because she believed that girls who like make up and wanted to get married were stupid and that she was highly intelligent because she was not like them. I did find the romance to be okay. This was just an okay book, nothing rememberable.
