Furiously Happy: A Funny Book about Horrible Things
by Jenny Lawson
Furiously Happy is a memoir about mental illness. The author suffers from depression, anxiety, and a personality disorder. She lines up her medicine bottles and signs them like she would with her books. She finds happiness during the dark times while battling mental illnesses.
I picked this book because I needed a biography for the summer reading challenge my library is doing. I noticed this was about mental illness and I battle bipolar disorder and anxiety, so I thought this book could speak to me. I totally relate to the author when it comes to thinking your crazy. The author was hilarious in the book and I could relate to the antipsychotic chapter. She is very outspoken and a tad bit weird, but it was all good. I really enjoyed this memoir and found myself laughing out loud on my walks with Riot. I may have looked like a crazy lady laughing at myself, but it’s all good.
