DNF. I just couldn’t with this book. The writing was very boring and stiff in my opinion. I thought it had an interesting concept of August’s sister, who is an American Heiress being arranged to marry a Duke in England who is in financial ruin, but August and the Duke end up falling in love. When I thought of picking up the book I was filled with dread and it would take me a while to read a page and this book is only 294 pages! I’m really saddened this is my first dnf of 2021.

Siri is a ballet dancer and injures her back and cannot do ballet anymore. She doesn’t know what else to do with her life. Her mom forces her to go on a retreat that is about rediscovering yourself. This retreat takes place in Colorado. Jamie is an aspiring stand up comedian and she bombs a gig. She has to move back in with her grandmother and her grandmother tells her to either go to the retreat or get therapy. She decides on going to the retreat. That’s how Siri and Jamie end up at the same place running into each other. This book is Freaky Friday meets The Parent Trap with some magic sprinkled in.
First of all, I loved Again, But Better and was so excited to be approved for this book on Netgalley. I have to say this definitely has a good plot line and the right idea. Now, the execution was bad. The characters are one dimensional and annoying. Christine creates the girls doing the opposite of one another. Siri doesn’t curse, but uses the words such as excrement and intercourse, while Jamie is swearing like a sailor on every page. Also, can we say, couldn’t have Christine picked other words other than excrement or intercourse to convey Siri doesn’t curse? There are so many other non-curse words to choose from. Then, Siri doesn’t think Jamie is real and was an imaginary friend and ends up thinking Jamie could be a ghost. I think the execution on why the sisters were separated was weird and silly. I really, really don’t recommend this book.

Roxy owns a bar and has gotten away from her abusive father. The Vipers are a mafia and are bad news. Roxy is sold by her father to the Vipers and they can do whatever they want to her.
Okay, I had to dnf this because I didn’t want to torture myself for 600 pages. I hated the view points of the men. They kept thinking in rapey thoughts. They are abusive. Also, they kept thinking about everything so was hot. I can just predict that Roxy would get Stockholm syndrome and fall in love with the men, which would then turn into a toxic relationship. I just didn’t feel comfortable reading this. I did like the tone of Roxy. I really don’t suggest this book.

Julie has been gone for eight years and comes back to Atlanta, but is wearing a different face and scent. She has a different name-Aurelia. She is there to investigate the deaths and stay away from her family so they don’t die.
The premise seems amazing. I haven’t read the other books to other series, so maybe that’s why I struggled with this book. I found it hard to follow and knowing what is happen. I couldn’t connect with the characters and just couldn’t get into it.

Maybell hates her job and is always working in housekeeping. She’s been catfished and still is friends with the person who catfished her and she is always daydreaming of the guy. Maybell finds out she inherits her great-aunts estate. She quits her job and moves out and goes to the estate. While there she meets the grumpy groundskeeper and he is the guy in the pictures that were used to catfish her with. So, she can’t differentiate between Jack and Wesley. Wesley keeps to himself and is very grumpy. He wants to turn the place in an animal sanctuary and Maybell wants to make it back into a hotel.
Okay, I loved, loved, loved You Deserve Each Other. I couldn’t wait to pick up this book. Well, it was a disappointment. Maybell is very annoying and immature. She has her head stuck in the clouds and is always daydreaming in her alternative universe. There is really no mourning by the characters. They don’t interact with each other and when they do there is absolutely no chemistry. I found there to be no funny parts. I would skip this book.

Legacy of Ash is an epic fantasy that has a lot characters. One is a demon, another is stuck in a seat of power he doesn’t want, a sister who wants to marry to leave where she came from, and a person who has been cursed.
This book started off good and I liked it. However, as I went on with the story I just got really bored. All the characters sounded the same and I started to mix them up a bit. I am really disappointed that I dnfed because I tend to enjoy epic fantasy novels.

I was going to read this for my Jokester prompt for the Trick or Treat Readathon, but I just had to DNF this. This book was so bad. If I did push on, then it would have been 2 stars due to wanting to dnf. But, instead of myself torturing myself I decided let’s just dnf and move on. I even was buddy reading this and they gave it 2 stars. I didn’t feel like it wouldn’t meet the prompt because it really isn’t funny, just bad writing and awkwardness. There is no chemistry between the characters and it’s instant love. Danica is like I can’t be with him because I’m a witch, but I NEED him and then Titus is like I’m bad at relationships, but I want her and things can be too soon. There was way to much telling instead of showing. This is something I don’t recommend to anyone. I do like the cover though.
