This book is a vivid and addictive read, but it's the kind of book that leaves me feeling like I've been watching trashy television. I don't really feel like it added anything to my life, or made me feel any emotions worth feeling.

Also, this book has a lot of triggers if you have certain mental disorders or are prone to self harming.

This book is unlike anything I've read before, and that made me love it.

Read it for the surface murder mystery, read it for the weird almost-but-not-quite-sci-fi setting, read it for the allegory about social norms and prejudice - I don't care which, just read it.

Enchanting and charming without being sappy, and without asking for more suspension of belief than I could muster.
