this book was sooo good omg. if you're looking for a dark romantasy with dragons, this is the one!

i hated king talon at first, but he grew on me after finding out why he's doing what he's doing. and calista! my bb! i feel so hard for her and everything she went through. one of the strongest FMCs i know.

the ending had the on the edge of my seat! i cannot wait for the next book, blood of dragons. penelope's writing is amazing and i've never been disappointed with any of her books.

bodyguard romance but switch the roles??? hell yeah~~

zalak is our female bodyguard protecting mathijs. if you love the fact that she's the best sniper in a male-dominated field, this book is for you! i wish the book was longer! :( the epilogue was amazing as always.

i wanted to like this book, but i felt
like there was so much going on and nothing at all at the same time.

there were a lot of characters, a lot of POVs. 

i wish the book touched more on avery’s stalker and her mom’s mysterious death. i realize that this is not a finished series (this is the first book), but this book was almost 500 pages! 😭 it took me 4 days to complete, when i normally can finish a book or two a day. 

i will say that i am hoping to read more of maddison’s work. this is my first book by her, but i am intrigued by her writing. this book just wasn’t for me unfortunately! 😭
