Oh, Sabaa Tahir, how you play with my emotions! This book was amazing and I can’t wait to move onto A Reaper at the Gates!

An enjoyable sequel that is definitely more steamy than the first one (if that’s even possible). I really like Rosie and I’m glad we got a book focused on her and Dominic. I found the second half of the book kind of had a slower pace, so it took me longer to finish the book. I definitely preferred Fix Her Up to this one but overall, it was a solid read!
I’m excited to read the next book and see what Bethany gets up to!

Ugh, I'm so disappointed that I didn't love this book as much as I thought I would. This book is something I should love - it involves royalty, a kingdom, magic, and people teaming up for good. But it just really falls flat in so many ways.
I usually really enjoy Melissa de la Cruz's writing, but this one didn't feel like her. The thing that bothered me the most is the alternating perspectives. Dual POV's are fine for me usually, but one character's chapters were told in first person and the other character's chapters were told in third person. I didn't like that at all.
Other than that, the plot was boring to me as I felt like nothing really happened. And the chemistry between the characters was non-existent.

This was an enjoyable re-read! I'm looking forward to being transported back into this world again after having been away from The Mortal Instruments for a while :)
