Ugh, I'm so disappointed that I didn't love this book as much as I thought I would. This book is something I should love - it involves royalty, a kingdom, magic, and people teaming up for good. But it just really falls flat in so many ways.

I usually really enjoy Melissa de la Cruz's writing, but this one didn't feel like her. The thing that bothered me the most is the alternating perspectives. Dual POV's are fine for me usually, but one character's chapters were told in first person and the other character's chapters were told in third person. I didn't like that at all.

Other than that, the plot was boring to me as I felt like nothing really happened. And the chemistry between the characters was non-existent.
