This book was without doubt the most terrifying thing I read that year. Horror really ain't my thing, but damn she is just so subtle; I didn't know it was a horror story 'til I was done reading it and started having nightmares.

This book was very refreshing. I haven't read much in the way of fiction dealing with mental health issues; those I have read are not very consistent and quite often are written with harsh stereotypes in mind.
This is not one of those. It was perfectly on point in the relevant information about the diseases and phenomena relayed. The descriptions of Ali's synesthesia was quite interesting; it is easy to understand why she would think that she was nuts at first.
The way that she could see rotten fruit was particularly intriguing, I personally can smell when something is off much sooner than others, so I don't find this to be a big stretch at all. I am absolutely looking forward to following up with the rest of this series. Definitely recommend.

Alright, alright. Time to write this damn thing. After I finished this one I needed a recuperation period. To be reminded of the everyday demons that really exist was quite a jolt from the fantasy world I have been living in with my fiction reads. But the truth is shitty people like the father in Because I am Furniture actually exist, and they probably won’t stop existing for a very long time.
Thalia Chaltas’ somewhat fictional, somewhat truthful accounting of an abusive home life and all the dynamics involved was chilling. I particularly liked how it was presented in poetry rather than prose. It really lent itself to showing you just how little people in that situation are truly living.
Please, if you are suffering at the hands of an abuser, or know someone who is; you are not alone and you have every right to get the hell out. You do not deserve this, no one does. If your abuser is a cop, then get the hell out of dodge.

This book threw me for a loop; Major Plot-twist. I didn't see over half of this coming!
First off this book changes perspective immediately, shifting off Alison and onto Tori.
She's Just an ordinary alien girl who desperately wants her parents acceptance and approval. She was also kidnapped for 3 months by a psychotic scientist. Who wants to experiment and eventually dissect and kill her, no big deal. Tori, is now in a race against time to stop the evil scientist, once and for all.
Enter the monkey-wrench, by the name of Deckard. A cop turned P.I. who is hell bent on finding out the truth, no matter what the cost.
Edge of my seat I tell you, couldn't put it down if I tried. I didn't.

This book was a little slow going, and I seriously considered putting it down for good. I am so glad that I didn't! After its' blah start it grew more intense with each page.
I was captivated somewhere around chapter 3 and upon finishing the book, absolutely dismayed to find that I had managed to take out the third but not the second book in the trilogy. Color me frustrated when I already know I cannot go the library anytime soon; thanks in part, to homework, as well as the snow deluging from the sky right now.

This book barely held my attention at all. I finished it in hopes of greater excitement; also dragons. Not really my cuppa. The premise is neat enough with the shape-shifting and whatnot. Where you lose me is the remaining dormant until a star masquerading as a person awakens you. I do not think so, but I didn't write it. So what do I know? From what I do know of dragon lore, their hides are impenetrable; this makes later scenes in the novel a tad tough to choke down, realistically within the universe created.
I give this two stars because the use of imagery was very well done. Other than that this book was a bit of a wash, if I'm being honest: I always strive for that. Cheers all, until next review.

It held my attention well enough. Honestly though parts of it felt forced. A world woven on top of earth and it is all basically a giant illusion/hallucination?! come on I've heard that before and it didn't sound good then either. I will just have to see if it improves with the rest of the series.

This book was an incredibly awkward, at times painful read, in the most beautiful way possible. I love the way that all the characters are connected to each other, even if they themselves do not see it, or even know each other/ feature in the other's story.
This book was a return trip to high school angst. It contained everything I managed to escape during my own adolescence. They guy I thought was my first love is as close as I get to the stories within. Was it just me or did the church girl remind y'all of one Mercedes Jones of Glee fame (the character not the actress).
Though I would not read this book again, I think it is one of those prolific, and profound, books that everyone ought to read once.
4 Claddagh rings out of 5.

so, somehow i managed to miss reviewing this back when i finished it. Not sure how that happened, but here we go. Helen's future keeps getting murkier by the hour, and she thinks she is going insane to boot. She keeps dreaming about deserts and waking up with mud on her feet, bone weary. This book was captivating start to finish. This story features excellent world building.

As always I loved reading the story, the world and character development were spot on as always. I must admit I saw the ending coming at far more than a mile away.
It was very predictable in an "Oh, you" sort of way. It was a great story, though I am not all that sad to see it go. I have never been a one book kind of woman. I like adventure in my life.
I give this trilogy my Very best wishes as I send it off in favor of a new adventure.
3/5 Violent uprisings.
