Really enjoyable fast read. This series would be great for a palette cleanser between big books.

It's okay. There was an improvement in the writing from the first book but the characters were a little weak. The main character is great but everyone else is very one note. Plenty of blades tho.

I've watched the movie so nothing was new or surprising but it's still a good read. Too many YA books are filled with annoying characters. Like they think youth equals immaturity, stupidity and lots of whining. This is definitely a cut above some others I have read.

This is more of a continuation of first law story line than I was expecting. A lot of old characters from the first trilogy pop up and I get the feeling that I might of even missed some. That type of thing always increases my enjoyment of a story.

I never really clicked with the writing but I finished it quickly so that's saying something. Was thinking there would be more stairs.

I would be truly disappointed if we lived in a dark forest.

Disappointing. Plus I regret doing this series in audio. The narrators whines make me unable to sympathize with any of the characters. I'll finish it but I'm not excited for the conclusion.
Why should I care about Alton? His character did not earn the screen time he enjoys in this sequel. I'm glad he's dead and I really hope he doesn't come back in the third.

Entertaining read but it wasn't the kind of story I was hoping it would be. That's the problem with overhyped books. You get an impression of it and then when it subverts your expectations your just a little disappointed. It didn't knock off any socks but I liked it. Would recommend for a casual/ holiday read.
My biggest complaint is how predictable some of the story is. The plot points of the car crash and the end of life care were too in your face. And I didn't like how it seemed like Monique was taking everything Evelyn was telling her as fact.

His other two books are better. This one has the same vibe and general beat but kind of annoying. Plus I wasn't a fan of the end.

Went into this not knowing anything other than its some kind of romance. Then character 1 starts with the meet cute and I thought I knew what I was reading. I even considered DNF cause I immediately hated the guy even his name. But I stuck it out and was surprised by how much I liked it. It isn't perfect and it's not a favorite but it made me feel things and sometimes that's all a book needs to be.
