To sum up Helen: it is a novel about lies. The 1st half was more a study of manners. The 2nd focuses on the drama caused by the lies as they become more and more complex. The characters, in particular the side characters, were brilliantly written. You could easily like them or easily hate them.

This is definitely a novel worth re-reading.

Lucy Worsley writes such creative and entertaining biographies. In this biography, she examines the life of Queen Victoria by selecting keys days at different stages of her life.

Unfortunately, there were a couple of of minor errors that were missed during editing. The biggest one occurring in the family tree section. Princess Victoria's (Vicky's) birth year being incorrect.

A beautiful collection of Emily Brontë's poetry.

"The more I learn about Anne, the more I understand that if you are incapable of speaking for yourself, then others will do it for you. And it will probably be a very long time before they get it right."

The final book in the A View From the Twenty-First Century series. Like the previous books, this book sets out to challenge another Brontë myth. This one challenges the myth that Anne was the 'boring' one. Far from the truth! Hay writes an excellent collection of arguments disputing this.

This is a welcome addition to the new biographies and studies about Anne. I would recommend readers to this book.
