Okay so Betty MacDonald be having some dated thoughts to SAY THE LEAST!!! However as a historical work of both the attitude of the time, and Betty undeniably having a pretty funny and beautiful prose at times, this is certainly an entertaining read. Can't argue with the gross goeduck thing either

I know this isn't the point but why is every woman in this series so hot... Somebody big brained was behind this...

Omg this art...genuinely inspiring, I read this at the library but I really want to purchase this book just to be able to look at these illustrations whenever I want. Incredible work, and I like the story too, I feel like I didn't actually have a lot of problems with flow ultimately, one just kind of needs to really slow down and read this one slowly. It's a somewhat ponderous read

These books are so damn good, I am in my twenties and anxiously awaiting the next installment, the illustrations are just so vibrant and the characters are always delightful. I LOVE IT SO MUCHHH!!

Love the art, it’s a whole vibe, the story is just okay. Didn’t really get what it was going for in some parts but I still enjoyed it as a little read at the bus stop (the buses here run super fucking late).

To be fair though gay (and even dare I say hetero) cowpoke fiction is like crack to me so that’s part of it

Pretty boring, art and story and characters aren't that remarkable, most enjoyable stuff is the sketches on the last pages. 

That being said, please know I'm no stranger to using a little they/them off the clock, but it is so funny that out of literally nowhere in this book they're like "excuse me, may we discuss gender, what is your relationship to it?"

“Gay fuck boy” is unfortunately one of the most dating sentences I’ve seen in a comic in a hot minute. I can tell this was probably written at least partly around 2016 cause man… 

Also the premise was just too silly for me to take seriously. And I don’t mean like I need a serious story I mean that the story didn’t take its own premise seriously enough that I couldn’t buy the silliness. I dunno. I get the impression this artist enjoyed KLK, which isn’t a diss just an observation.
