In 27 pages we changed POV five times. What the heck is this, chapter two just ended.

This book is a mixed bag, so I know that people are calling it adult (looking at you Fairyloot), but I would call it YA. So I wish I had gone into it with a 'reading YA mindset' instead of a 'adult' mindset because that would have ruined my enjoyment of the book. I don't like YA but I wanted to read this, and I'm happy I gave it a good. For a YA book it was good, I think the language the character's were using were appropriate, in a YA context but event then a hundred year old ish character being described as a 'sass-hole'? is not it - this is not 2008. I was kind of wishing the characters were more grown-up the entire time. I don't know if that's because as I'm getting older I'm looking for characters I can relate too or what?

Anyway I liked the plot and love Chinese mythology and Lady Jing, a half-jiangshi (vampire), half-hulijing (fox spirit), but she was immature and that's the only part I couldn't click with. But I will say, I did buy a copy of the book and will also keep my Fairyloot edition so I think that those of you who go into it knowing what to except will love it.

Thank you to Hodder & Stoughton, Hodderscape for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Four Seasons in Japan is a book-within-a-book, this is done by having our main character Flo find a book in Japanese, a translator by trade, she decides to take it on as a project. Flo is stuck in a rut, her relationship is ending and she's trying to get out of a funk. Ayako, is the main character of the book Flo is translating. Ayako is a "fierce and strict old woman who runs a coffee shop in the small town of Onomichi, where she has just taken guardianship of her grandson, Kyo". Flo spends Four Seasons in Japan trying to translate Ayako' book and searching for the author.

Bradley does a wonderful job of writing about Japanese culture and use of the Japanese language as someone who has never been to Japan this book made me feel apart of the culture and improved my understanding the culture.

Thank you to Random House UK, Transworld Publishers, Doubleday for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Someone tell me why every few pages I need to know that some random song is playing.

Ironically, I can hear Swalla - Acoustic Version by Missy & Blonde and Julia Ross come over the speakers.

I don't care.

Also she's so stupid, it's like common sense was not given to Lilly - she see's a picture of a group where there's two people who look exactly the same and her first thought is who is that? And no okay maybe a twin???
