Illuminae is a fantastic story told through unconventional means. The reader acts as an observer as data files, briefing notes, transcripts, and surveillance summaries tell the tale of Kady Grant. The plot was gripping, the "chapters" were short which made this very long book (shy of 600 pages) fly by, and the characters were very easy to get invested into. I don't tend to read or enjoy sci-fi but this book was absolutely incredible and I will be picking up books two and three off my shelf and giving them a read as well!

Book two of the Raven Cycle was just as gripping as the first. Many times books in the middle of a series feel as though they are just dragging you through the story until the last book. The Dream Thieves does not do this. While the main plot is dragged out, the hunt for the Raven King, this book serves to progress the stories and give even more reasons to root for the Raven Boys and Blu! The author handled the main plot while providing new characters and plot lines that always tied back to the main mission. Full of adventure and magic in a small town, The Dream Thieves was everything you could hope for in a book and more. I would definitely recommend anyone who picked up book one to continue with the series as it just keeps getting better!

I can understand why this book is so popular. Taylor Jenkins Reid has an excellent writing style. It is easy to understand and follow along with her writing. The bulk of the book felt somewhat repetitive and just filler but Reid's writing style kept it semi-interesting and kept me reading.
The plot twist was unique but felt anticlimactic. It had been built up throughout the book as the reason everyone will hate Evelyn Hugo only to end up being something Evelyn really had no control over and wasn't that big of a deal. Evelyn Hugo only slightly changed the outcome of the plot twist but did not contribute anything significant to the event so it fell flat for me. The book wrapped up nicely leaving a fairly closed ending with a good sense of how the character's lives would be after "The End". I would recommend this book if you are looking for a slow-paced book that deals with many issues in Hollywood and a somewhat repetitive but outrageous and not-so-far-fetched story.

So far the book has been a pretty slow start and as I am on the verge of a reading slump that's not great motivation. I will definitely pick it back up when I am more secure in my want to read as I liked the writing style and I've been told by multiple people I would enjoy the story.

Can Leigh Bardugo write a bad book? The answer is no, even Ninth House, a branch outside of the Young Adult sphere, Bardugo still manages to captivate and entertain. The mc Alex's backstory doesn't relate to my own in any way yet I found myself relating to and sympathizing with her. The magic system is fantastical yet fascinatingly grounded in reality and left me wanting to jump into this world of secret societies, and college politics. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves magical realism, mysteries, and a bit of murder. Ninth House is an instant love on my shelf and I can't wait to pick up the sequel, Hell Bent!

This might be the best book I will ever read. Not only was the writing style very lyrical in the descriptions of people and places but the characters and the stories were magnificent. Just like our MC is warned twice that Caraval is merely an illusion, much of what we as the audience reads is not what it seems. It is almost like the readers are also playing the game of Caraval. The plot twists are sharp and sneak up on you, the characters are loveably flawed, and the sense of right and wrong is very muddled. This book is perfect for anyone who loves a good mystery shrowded in magic.

I loved this book. I liked the characters and the adventure, the inquisition, and the danger. This book pushed me to the edge of my seat so many times! There were twists and turns that had me yelling yes and no. The characters where so easy to cheer on and you can't help but want the best for each of them even when they are making mistakes. I was slightly confused at a few key points as to what exactly was happening but I was also listening to the audiobook so I would recommend reading the physical book over reading the audiobook. Other then that it was incredible and I can't wait to pick up the next book in this series!

An excellent twist on murder mysteries and scavenger hunts! I would definitely check tw's before picking this book up DA is a pretty continuous theme of the book. The book definitely showcases grief in a spectacular way and I could not put it down. The characters were instantly loveable and I was rooting for them to get to the end of the scavenger hunt!

A great Middle-Grade novel to read when you want to read something a little spooky but not too spooky. The characters are loveable, the plot is unique and the first book left me excited to pick up the rest of the series and see where Cass goes and what she does next.
