Ruin of Stars is one of the absolute best books I have ever read. The pacing is great, the story is action-packed and informative, and all the characters come to life off the page. In this thrilling conclusion of the duology, we follow Sallot Leon as Opal tracking down the remainder of names on their kill list. But things aren't as they seem as the brewing war between Igna and the remainder of Erlend unleashes new questions and new heartwrenching discoveries. This book will you have hanging on the edge of your seat, laughing and crying your heart to pieces, and leave you satisfied and soulless by the end. It's an emotional roller coaster worth diving into. If you haven't read Mask of Shadows yet, please do, and make sure to pre-order Ruin of Stars which releases this August.

If you need any more convincing, I have a more in-depth review on my blog. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on this epic book. (https://scarletwriters.com/ruin-of-stars-arc-review-sassy-maud-actual-cinnamon-roll-sal-and-so-much-suspense/)

This book is perfect for people who love fantasy, magic, and amazing fight scenes. The concepts of magic being in the blood and other Londons in different worlds interconnected by doors was so fascinating to me. V.E. Schwab is a master of the written word, her vocabulary is rich and her craft is so well mastered, this whole story captivates and pulls you into the world and you never want to leave. I love the languages that she has created as well, every world having its own tongue and English being the word of royalty, it was incredibly fascinating. Kell, Rhy, and Lila are A class characters and there is so much more to explore in their stories. I'm excited to get into the second book. If you want a story that will transport you into another realm, so vividly created you can taste the air between the pages, this is the story for you.

I really enjoyed A Gathering of Shadows. I love the immersive world V.E. Schwab has created with the parallel Londons, especially Red London and it's immense power. I was quite thrown, however, when I discovered the plot for this book was more character-driven than plot-driven as A Darker Shade of Magic was. I don't mind the change, but it did strike me as odd given how action packed the first book was.

Regardless, I very much enjoyed being able to dive deeper into the mechanics of Red London, the magic system, and seeing more internal development among the characters. Lila is really the main focus of this book, but Rhy was made a key character as well. And we were able to meet Alucard Emery who I adore. I especially loved the magical tournament held in Red London; it reminded me of the Goblet of Fire from Harry Potter.

However, I was a bit frustrated that the tournament didn't actually happen until the final 4th of the book and felt a bit too short for me. I would have liked to see more festivity and more celebration among the people and in the city. All in all, the book was very good. I adore V.E. Schwab's writing style and the vivid imagery she creates. I highly recommend giving this book a read after A Darker Shade of Magic.

I was surprised at how fast a read this book was. 600 pages in only a few days; I couldn’t bear to put it down. The story was so enthralling, and each character only grew in depth the further along the story went. I fell even more in love with Rhy than I thought possible, found sympathy for Holland, and Kell and Lila have become my all time favorite couple. Everything about this story from the world to the magic, to the characters and writing, are so rich and immersive, I couldn’t recommend this trilogy enough.

Wow. Just, wow. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is truly a masterpiece of complex craft and in-depth character design. I couldn't put this book down. Every chapter was a pageturner filled with new discoveries and gripping conflicts. Leigh Bardugo really knows how to twist character development, exposition, and action all into one cohesive and well-written package. Each character's perspective gave more realism to both the world around them and the character's themselves. Everyone has their own agenda, their own pasts, ghosts, and are searching for their own purpose in the midst of this harrowing heist.

It was incredibly enthralling to watch these characters grow not only together as a misfit family but individually as well. The world is rich and in-depth, the character's even more so, and the plot-line is so well thought-out and structured that it's like watching a movie in your mind. I highly recommend diving into this book, and make sure you have the sequel Crooked Kingdom at the ready because the ending will make you want to dive right back into Ketterdam for the fight of the century.

While this story has emotionally destroyed me, I have fallen even deeper in love with this amazing cast of characters. If you loved Six of Crows I highly recommend reading its sequel. My full review will be on my blog soon, so be sure to stay tuned.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Nikolai, Zoya, and Nina stole my heart all the more in this book. I can't wait for the next book in the duology.

Beautiful comic with an amazing storyline. It was so great to get to dive back into the Shades of Magic world, this time following a young King Maxim.
