Not what o expected overall . The writing is good but the characters are just too messy in a few areas . The ending had me fuming but was an unexpected twist
Pleasantly surprised and pleased with this book. I was on the edge of my seat guessing til the end . Even when I figured out parts in advance there were still so many questions to be answered. What a twisty tale of exposes long buried secrets
This was overall a good book . I will say that the shorter journal like entries as chapters will not be everyone’s cup of tea. This book does cover a lot of heavy topics I.e. self harm, abandonment issues, homelessness , SA , abuse etc but it did so in a very gentle way . While you felt the sadness emanating off the characters , it was not too tough to manage . Personally I felt some parts dragged a bit in a few places but still a decent read .
This book is so real and that makes it even more heart wrenching. First off the more this book went on the more irritated I was with literally every single adult ! I could have reached in and smacked some of them . Claudia is such a sweetheart and I wanted to give her a hug. The reality of how possible this book could be is a heartbreaking honesty on how the system fails people every single day especially POC .
A twisty read
This book is all about how secrets and lies come back to haunt everyone, especially a town full of psychics. The story is written in a way that keeps you guessing til the end and trying to solve the mysteries of La Cachette and its dark past. Grey is the stubborn and determined best friend that everyone deserves!

I loved parts of this book and despised others. For me personally, the explanation of the love languages was great, lots of details and potential ways to identify or act on that love language at the end of the section. However, I took major issue with quite a few of the real life couples and their examples or rather the advised approach. I think that some of them supported very misogynistic views, gave advice that could leave partners open to dv and allowed for terrible behavior such as weaponized incompetence or outright selfishness to continue. I will note that I did do some research and saw that this book was published in 1992 and that may speak to some of the , in my opinion ,poor advice or handling of situations based on the social norm of that era. I also think that some of the book suggests focusing energy onto one love language entirely and that seems odd. If your spouse was truly only filling one part of your marriage I think it would get old quickly as other areas would feel massively neglected. I will also say that I think that it's also highly unlikely that everyone in the world fit into one of these categories as I think that the universe was created with so many different types of people that simplifying humankind with only 5 options seems limited. Overall I can appreciate the opportunity this book provides to start working and exploring ways to fulfill needs and love your spouse in new and even more satisfying ways.
This was a decent read. I wanted a little bit more from the story overall though. The final twists were unexpected and definitely saved this for me . I would have loved to see more detail regarding the last accident though I felt like it was just skimmed over . Also Chess is wildly irritating from the jump !
Great writing. For anyone interested in reading I would definitely check out the trigger warnings . The way the characters are written will having you unsure of whether to love or hate them at different points in the story . The big twist did my make audibly gasp. Overall the writing was detailed but with an air of casualness. A tale of truly truly dark feminine rage . I look forward to potentially seeing more by this author.
Reread as an adult for a bit of nostalgia and it is still such a good read . Sometimes you cannot beat the classics and the warmth they bring your soul.
This book gave me the ick in quite a few places . I feel that a few things mentioned in passing were not particularly necessary in the end and made it hard to stomach some parts of the book . It was okay but definitely had me ready to move on by the end.
