After listening to Root of Evil, I was hoping this book would shed more light on Steve Hodel’s investigation. And while it did indeed do that, as far as books go, it wasn’t great. It would add to Steve’s credibility had another investigator lent their input. Honestly, just listen to Root of Evil if you want to hear about the trash heap that was Dr. George Hodel.
2020 update: we don’t fuck with transphobia. Bye, CNA!
A very accessible book for those wishing to understand the groundwork of contemporary feminism. My main issue with the text is that it upholds the gender binary; however, I don't know to what extent Adichie is focusing on distinctly Nigerian gender politics versus universal gender politics, and ultimately I don't know enough about Nigerian gender politics to confront any of these issues from a non-US standpoint. Still, a very well-crafted piece. I can only imagine how much more powerful the Ted Talk was.
