taylormadespines 's review for:
We Should All Be Feminists
by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
2020 update: we don’t fuck with transphobia. Bye, CNA!
A very accessible book for those wishing to understand the groundwork of contemporary feminism. My main issue with the text is that it upholds the gender binary; however, I don't know to what extent Adichie is focusing on distinctly Nigerian gender politics versus universal gender politics, and ultimately I don't know enough about Nigerian gender politics to confront any of these issues from a non-US standpoint. Still, a very well-crafted piece. I can only imagine how much more powerful the Ted Talk was.
