Sweet and warm, and unfortunately kind of boring. I don't mind low-stakes stories, so long as there is something compelling about the plot or characters. I found it all kind of flat, and as a result struggled to care what happened next.
(ALSO: I don't understand the point of making this in a fantasy setting if all of your cafe elements are modern items with a fantasy coating over top. I found it profoundly uninspired overall. sorry!!)

I love a story that knows exactly what it wants to accomplish and doesn't overstay its welcome. Roth is a master for creating such an evocative world and characters in such a short space -- I devoured this and was left immensely satisfied.
Started off strong but fizzled in the third act conflict. Characters were fairly flat but the banter was fun while it lasted.
Could not get past the writing style. I wish the author would trust us to infer information instead of laying it out explicitly in every single paragraph. Exhausting.
Realizing that I'm only really interested in a very narrow slice of the Romantasy genre. I really wasn't meshing with the characters nor was I compelled by the worldbuilding -- especially knowing there are 2 other books after this. Just not for me. <3
Hard to give a rating to a book like this. 5 stars for personal tracking, since I gained much from reading it.
