tanouska's Reviews (589)
It seems I've had a theme in the last books I've reviewed ARC's for, as they all deal with the dead in some way or another, very interesting! I wonder if it's something that's just a popular theme right now, or if I was subconsciously pulled to them when I was requesting them! I've definitely had a liking for books with the theme for a longer time, though never in a horror/creepy type genre :P
That theme continues in this book! While it does of course deal with a deceased main character, it's far from depressing or creepy/horror-y. I really enjoyed reading it, and I loved how it dealt with the, how do you say it nicely, trouble you run into when in a romcom one character is alive, and the other is an incorporeal ghost.
It also dealt with more serious issues well, and I would definitely recommend this book!
Thank you Netgalley and Zando for providing me with an ARC!

Spirits and Sirens was a fun contemporary romance with a light dusting of supernatural phenomenons. I won't spoil it, of course, but opening chapter was a really nice move in making the reader curious, and how a mystery was small red line threading through the book while mainly being a more classic romance was a nice variation of the genre.
Not directly related to the book, but a couple writing books together really brings me joy, and reading this book has made me put the other Owen Station books straight onto my TBR!

This book!
The theme of this book is a bit darker than what I usually read, but I loved it a lot, so maybe I should expand my usual reading habits! I find I do generally like books that put a twist on death, or that show different ways death can be dealt with, and this was an original way of doing that.
I enjoyed the worldbuilding, and also the diverse cast of characters that appeared over the course of the book! It's a bit hard to go into more detail without going into spoiler territory, but I really recommend this to people (and already have multiple pe0ple put it on their TBR, yay!) Also, look at that cover, so pretty! I may have to buy a physical edition to put on my shelves!
Just beware of (quite?) some gory and agressive details. Not over the top though, since I could handle it :D

I listened to this in one day while having a migraine. It was very good! I'll probably not remember a whole lot of it in a few weeks, but that just means I can reread it at a later date and not know every detail :P
It's a YA book, but doesn't feel all that YA, probably due to the serious setting.

As soon as I saw the cover and read the blurb of this book, I requested the ARC, very excited! When I realised it was written by the author of The magic between I was even more excited, as I really enjoyed that book when it came out!
The book definitely didn't disappoint either! I had a lot of fun reading it. I liked getting to know the two main characters and their friends. I always love it when there are (group)texts in a book, and this book delivers gloriously on that part :D The growing friendship and later relationship felt really well executed :D
Also: it comes with great illustrations!
