This book had an interesting take on reparations (if you get a chance I suggest looking up 40 acres and a mule), separation of the races, upcoming race war, and underwater technology. It speaks many truths about the opinions between the races and the drastic measures some people feel they need to take to protect their own people. Such a pity we live in such a society that people can't get along. Made me wonder if I'd accept such separation. Anyway, I don't want to give book away. It was a unique story that I feel is best read vs listening as an audible.

Clap Back is definitely unique. People have been exploiting black people for centuries and this book is a protest of it, in a very unique way. While I'm not a fan of voodoo, I like how it helps move the story along. Themes of exploitation of youth, police harassment, racism, marginalized populations, and forgiveness are all explored. This book stayed with me long after I read it.

trees and a killer is on the loose. There were many themes floating through: grief, finding yourself, adaptation, murder, friendship, and love. It was well written with a world created that sounds almost cool to live in, except for plastic houses and not being able to go outside. I though the characters were described just enough to get me invested, but not too absorbed in them. I thought Izabel spoke to Cami almost like she was an adult at times. I also thought Izabel didn't make sense like being upset with the husband and putting herself in danger, immediately after being told she was in danger. Lead up to killer was great, but resolution was quick and simple; however, I did not think it was who it was. I also had a question about the bathroom scenes between the Izabel and Cami. I kept waiting for that to be part of the story and that never materialized. Just odd and unnecessary, but one eye catching statement I wont say. Overall, a great book that held my interest.

My Dear Friend Janet is a great intro to the Insults series. Lady Jacqueline is a riot and has a big personality. I feel so bad for Janet, the way lady J describes her style. After all, everyone is entitled to their own style, even if boring by some standards. But Lady J will help Janet get the change she wants. Keke Palmer did a great job narrating on the audible. The right pizzazz. I loved it. Book is well written also. Couldn't wait to read the next book.

I am sad to end the series. It was so much fun. This book shows what hard work, confidence, honesty, humbleness, and friendship gets you. While the wigs may show a different aesthetic, it's what's on the inside that you present to the world. Strong woman comes out on top. I am happy I read it. I did some reading and some audible so I like that versatility. I highly recommend. Apparently Keke Palmer has a series where she is in character as Lady J. I was dying laughing. Great accompanying the books. I am happy to have discovered this series.

These Alien Skies states history can sometimes be a burden. If there ever is a true statement. This book is set in the future, but very much speaks truths today. Black people relations around the world is a fall out from those truths. I couldn't help but do a video review. It is entertaining, and had me on the edge of my seat. Wormhole travel would be interesting. Definitely worth checking out in this series.

The Black Pages is somewhat abstract and I think is better enjoyed reading vs audible listening. I was left a bit confused by some of the happenings and about what exactly Faro's role is. All in all, I took away black Islamic history is being wiped out and needs to be preserved. Author sounds almost poetic in describing her, very beautiful. Book is a serious read and offers introspective thinking.

The Visit (Black Stars) is a role reversal of traditional gender roles where men are the more submissive gender in a pre Women's Liberation Movement type time frame. Many of the issues are quite the same, go figure. I thought it was unique and opened the door for in depth discussion of what roles we play in society and how it affects others. There were several funny parts that had me laughing. I enjoyed reading it.
