You are not Supposed to Die Tonight was a wild quick ride. It gave me exactly what I needed for character development, plot, gore, killing, and emotion for a campy slasher. Then threw in a couple twists I didn’t see coming, as well as my correct guess of who might be involved. Yeah me. The minority representation was significant and done well. I loved how ride or die, committed, dedicated and strong Charity is. She’s definitely deserving as a final girl. Will she stay that way, dadada dum… Read the book.  Book left on somewhat of a cliff hanger, but it is a complete story.  Definitely worth a read.

I enjoyed most of the stories in Out There Screaming (received as an ARC via #netgalley).  There is something for everyone.  There's some heavy hitters in this book too.  P. Djeli Clark and Tananarive Due were really good.  It a great book to keep reading, but I forced myself to space it out.  I would have liked to know in the Table of Contents which author wrote which story, but it was not listed (it is listed when you get to the actual story).  Overall, a great anthology.  

This interactive reader gives the impression that slavery was only a Southern institution.  This should lead to more questions.  I appreciated it tactfully handled explaining such a horrible institution of slavery. 

I enjoyed this quick read.  I learned many facts I did not know and also realized that although 1st class passengers had a higher survival rate, random actions by all aboard dictated their fate.  Such a sad event.

The Handmaid’s Tale graphic novel was so good.  The visual representation was done really well.  I haven’t read the actual book by Margaret Atwood, but have seen the movie.  No complaints of the adaptation

For such a short book, The Keeper’s Six was a slow read for me. There was a lot of different terms and entities that made it hard to understand. At one point, I stopped trying at some point, so maybe it wasn’t relevant.  Here high fantasy/sci fi. I did like the smart strong non traditional (older) female lead.  The magic was interesting and there was comedy.  I think there are some plot holes that I wouldn’t mind getting cleared up because it was suspenseful and entertaining leadup.  Overall, it was a fast/slow burn for me. A sequel is definitely warranted, but I’d be reluctant to pick it up. 

 Eartheater was a good slow burn story with the unique concept of eating dirt.  And it was a lot of dirt.  The family connection to the brother was also admirable considering their youth.  You don’t get any big action scenes in this book, but the story itself is satisfying.  However, I will say the sex scene came out of left field and I feel like it was not needed, and cheapened the story a bit.  The language was like an erotica story and not romantic at all. I took a star off because of it. 

It Will all Work Out is basically a self help book about controlling your life productively and effectively, with Kevin Hart’s flare for comedy.  I could almost hear him talking in my head as I read it.  It was abstract and does have practical information, along with sport analogies.  The last chapter was rushed, but overall I am glad this book was short since it didn’t give much into his life.   

 Music of the Night was a sexy, magical take on Phantom of the Opera.  I enjoyed the story and the beautiful storytelling with lots of imagery.  Suspenseful and just enough spice without being too trashy.  The ending had a twist I didn’t see coming.  Aria is too trusting.  Kinda annoyed me. 

My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness is boring and I was tempted to put down several time.  I thought it would be about sexuality struggles, but it was not.  It is about mental illness with several triggers of body mutilation, depression, eating disorders.  A woman seeking validation from people around her and getting to know herself.  The ending was not satisfying and I was only interesting in getting to the ending because I started.  He illustrations made her look like she’s 12 so the so called sex scenes were pedophilic.  I would not recommend this book.
