Ice Mermaid has a stunning cover, and is short.  I wouldn’t have minded more story.  You have mythological references and of course the historic sinking of Titanic.  So sad.  I have never seen anything in historical references about black people associated with the Titanic, so that was definitely unique and the discussion about racism without saying it was interesting, and miniscule.  The love story was out of left field too.  Overall, an interesting story, but I would assume it would be best enjoyed if you read The Salt for Air series. 

Crux is a quick read, kinda YA with immature seeming characters, but has some passionate sexiness.  Definitely YA.  It was fun, quick and I love Courtney kicks butt with a pair of skates.  The same skates she cared more about in the beginning than the fact she was kidnapped by aliens.  And he comedy was fun when people kept thinking she was on drugs. 

The Seventh Bride is a hilarious fun time.  The protagonist is young, precocious, hilarious and brave.  I kept getting Bluebeard vibes although this is not that, but you can gleam the premise.  Fantastic story and if you can do the audio, it definitely enhances the story.

A House of Good Bones tells a great story, that seems to go by quickly, especially the end.  Very suspenseful, shocking, and funny.  As usual T. Kingfisher, lots of fun sarcasm and quirky characters.  I did enjoy the little tidbits about flowers and bugs; however, the lady bug scenes freaked me out and made my skin crawl.  I enjoyed this story a lot. A good mix of creepy, horrific, and funny. 

The Hollow Places is a horrific, creepy, unique alternate realm story including nature (willows) to terrify.  There were lots of references to Narnia.  I have never seen or read so I didn't get them, but story was enjoyable nonetheless.  I enjoyed the side kick Simon and would not have minded seeing more of him.  Uncle Earl too.   I thought Kara was brave and scared at the same time; I would have moved immediately.   I enjoyed the concept of the story, but I found myself bored at times with the details and waiting for the ultimate payoff.  Can't say I was wowed.  I enjoyed the humor.  I like when Kara was startled that she said "once I snatched my soul back...".

Thornhedge was a unique and enjoyable approach to a common fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty.  I enjoyed the toad, as well as, incorporating other creatures into it.  And a knight who is honest about his valor. Also the history/biblical references were well done, accurate, and a great way to mark time.  It was suspenseful and paced well in the reveals.  And, as always, you see that unique humor.  I enjoyed this book and am glad it was short and not drug out.

I love loved this book.  It was graphic, emotional in simplicity of Ethan's lack of emotion, gory and has an interesting plot.  Very intriguing quick read.  Can't wait to continue in the series.  I need to know Ethan's back story. 

Around the Way Girl was fire and you can imagine her voice in this book, even without the audio accompaniment (although I do suggest getting it as she narrates).  I also listened to the narration and felt it was choppy throughout (editing). Taraji told her story with sass and class.  I learned so many things I did not know about her.  I loved she spoke about the racism in Hollywood, the stigma of single motherhood, and was vulnerable about although she loved her dad, he had some serious faults.  Great book.  

Let Me Out was entertaining, but also challenging with the homophobia and violence surrounding it. I wanted these characters to stand up more than they did.  I enjoyed the story and the comedy was good too.  Great queer and diverse race representations.  I wonder if there will be more as the book left an opening.  No cliff hanger, though.  I received this as a #netgalley arc. 

Whisper of the Woods #netgalley was a quick fun graphic novel.  Lots of Romanian words I didn't bother looking up, but book still made since.  Images were easy to understand and the story line was interesting.  All the makings of a good scary supernatural movie.  And the main guy Adam looks like Michael Jackson.
