Worm Loves Worm is a cute book that will definitely spark some questions for the reader. The ending is way too simple and seems to squirt around the actual issue. And when it does get to it in a round about way, definitely over simplified.

Lies My Teach Told Me is what I needed when I didn't know I needed it. I'm glad to do the work to learn for myself. Teaching of history should definitely be overhauled. This book would make a great supplement to American school teaching (if only administrators/politicians would care for you to know it). I'd advocate for something like this to be added to maybe mandatory optional summer reading lists. Many parents need to read this too. Knowledge is power; however, many people in the majority don't want the minority to have that power, but that is a whole other lesson. Hence, what this book talks about.
I love it covered a huge variety of topics from colonialism, racism, class structure, sexism, teaching style, who writes text books, politics, private corporations influence on politics and foreign affairs, and the environment. I took more notes reading this book than any other book I have read. I'd suggest people buy this book physically and annotate in it. I will say this book has a strong point of view which leads toward biasness. It also leaves out certain details to show the complete story, which I wouldn't mind knowing. Like how did Republications who were first on the side of minorities, then flip to be against them. Overall, great book that sparks a conversation. I'm glad to have read it. #netgalley

I enjoyed Life Sucks. Unique vampire storyline with comedy along the way. I have some reservations about the ending though.

Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself was a good foray into Playboy nostalgia. I didn't expect anything less so those aspects didn't disappoint. As far as Crystal's story, I wasn't super invested. Call me biased because she knew what she was getting into. So no sympathy there. I felt she kept going on these tangents to talk about her life and I was bored. Overall, OK but if it wasn't for Playboy, who is she. Hope she sells lots of books. She wanted to be someone and this is where she's at. Milk it girl. It's what's left.

Bad Girls is a bloody good time. The inter mix of music and Cuban language adds an ambience to the book. A translator would have been nice though.

I really enjoyed Nearly All the Men in Lagos are Mad. I will throw in USA men as well. This compilation of stories are so relatable. Finding a good man is hard. Stories will make you mad, tear up, laugh, say "that happened to me", and want to give these women a hug. Very well written. This author has a finger on the pulse of dating.

Masquerade was a great story. I loved the mythological aspects combined with a lush, beautiful rich thriving African world. I loved the women’s empowerment theme, also combined with a love story. As this is labeled adult fiction, I think Aremo behaved like a love sick young puppy and Ododo was naive at times. Overall, I loved this story and how it ended. #netgalley

Getting Married is a very relatable story of a woman trying to find her true self after a failed relationship. And that takes time. Nice story with some antiquated teachings from a mother stuck in the past. I’m glad that toxicity isn’t as prevalent today. Artistry is therapy in itself. I enjoyed the story.

Twisted Romance has something for everyone. I didn’t get all the stories, but I enjoyed it. I did not like the mixed media format. I prefer just the graphic part. Overall, a good diversity of stories.
