It is very unusual for me to rate a book so very low but I just couldn't enjoy reading this book (though I'll admit that it wasn't so bad for me to stop reading). The main character was very unlikable - she was a busy-body and interferring person who thinks she's better than everyone else; I couldn't find one thing I liked about her. A

The narrative was just plain annoying. Every few paragraphs it would start to 'wax philosophical' by having the main character thinking about morals and ethics and thinking in terms of a philosophy textbook. A few times this was related to the characterisation and the story, but most of the time there didn't seem to be any reason for it and it just pulled me out of the narrative which meant I got lost as to what was happening.


I have to admit I wasn’t too sure how I felt as I started reading this book. The reason was that it started with a very sudden, unexpected, violent scene – one I think may have worked better as a Preface or told in retrospect throughout the book. That said, that was the one and only thing I didn’t love and I read the rest of the book in one day.

The storyline sounds a little clichéd but it is anything but. I was constantly thinking and trying to work out what would happen and when the truth would come out and the reactions this would leave to. There are a lot of characters involved...
