I really enjoyed this book and found the story and characters engaging, interesting and informative. Perhaps that's not what you expect from most books, but to me it was the perfect mix. I did find that the focus on God was a little heavy at times for my personal preferance, but for the most part it did not interfere with the story, and helped me understand things about the characters and how they relate to one another.
I liked the journal entries throughout the first half of the story which are used to show scenes earlier in Leah's life. However, it was unclear when in her life these scenes happened which caused a little confusion at the beginning; but I feel that for the most part, knowing the timeline wasn't necessary to understand the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone dealing with alcoholism in their life or the life of someone close to them. However, I feel this book can help everyone understand the world a little better.

I found this book a really interesting story that I wanted to keep reading. Unfortunately the flow and pleasure of reading it was greatly hindered by a lack of good editing and proof-reading and many of the characters were very 2-D. I also found the ending a bit of a let down, though I'm unsure if that's because it's in a trilogy.
I have rated this book down because the above points took away the enjoyment I could have got from an interesting and unusual ghost story.

Cel and Anna is completely different from any other futuristic end-of-the-world books I've ever read. This in large part is due to the fact that the characters are the main point of the story, rather than the technology that surrounds them. Not to mention that it is set just before the downfall of the world, rather than after it.
Lindsay Edmunds has a very unique storytelling style which I have to admit felt a little bland to begin with but soon I became engrossed in the story and the style simply emulated the world she has created.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves stories featuring technology, unusual love and adventure as Cel and Anna includes all of these, so entwined that it is barely noticable how the story slips from one to the other. I will definitely be reading anything else Lindsay Edmunds has to share.

Tangled Tides is a contemporary book about magic and myth, featuring mermaids, sirens, selkies and gorgons, all in a completely new light. I have to admit that I was expecting a dark twist on the world of merfolk, but I think the story could be interpreted as dark or as a beautiful fairytale.
The story is told in first person through the eyes of the three main characters. I actually found this a bit of a problem in enjoying the story as I spent a lot of time trying to work out whose voice I was reading, rather than experiencing the story. While I think it would have been better told in third person, the positive of reading the different character perspectives made each side’s point of view crystal clear and understandable by the reader.
I found this book difficult to read for the first third as I felt it spent too much time telling me about the mer-world, rather than diving into the story. However, once I was past this point, the story suddenly became so intriguing that I found myself reading for hours, unwilling to pause as I wanted to know what was going to happen.
I would recommend Tangled Tides to anyone who still believes in fairytales or who enjoy discovering different ways of thinking. At the core, Tangled Tides is a book about a young girl deciding who she is, which the author shows through the different species involved.
